Introductions - good to find this forum
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm very happy to find this forum. I've been biking for 45 years and more passionate then ever about cycling, here in Seattle. I'm currently building a Baron disc brake rain commuter, and transforming my carbon framed Trek into a century bike Campy Comp triple components. I look forward to participating in the forums!

Welcome to Bike Forums.
How far do you commute?

depends on the day, but anywhere from 6 to 20+ miles. Seattle has gotten so much more bike-friendly in the past few years, and as a result there are lots of folks riding. I'm totally new to this forum - are there folks like you who are responsible for welcoming newbies? I have several technical questions involving the bikes I'm building - what's the best way to start a thread if I can't find an existing one?

Thanks catonec, I never thought I would identify as one. I've been in Seattle for a long time now, but in Burl before that through the 80's. I dream about Vermont every night (literally) and look forward to getting back for some fine riding in the Green Mtns. I was there last summer, and was very impressed by a map of the state that's in circulation showing some really great rides of different lengths

yeah its pretty nice here. There isnt the major volume of traffic found in most urban areas, and plenty of moderate to steep climbs to keep it interesting.
