Depends on the bike.

Yes on the TSR, but no way on the Strida.

I do not understand why folding bike manufacturers actively work to make their bikes less stable.

Folding bikes have low trail generally because their wheels are small, making it hard to have both decent trail and a rake. So get rid of the rake -- there's practically no benefit to it anyway at that size.

Take the Brompton for example, which has very poor trail, and so is very unstable, yet it has quite a considerable rake. If the company eliminated the rake, they could extend the handlebars forward by another good two inches. This would allow a bigger reach (the Brompton's #1 problem IMO) or would allow the seat to be moved forward a bit, or would permit an even more compact fold. AND they'd have a much stabler, safer bike. Go figure.

Bikes like the Tikit *look* like they've eliminated rake but in fact not entirely -- it's still got a little teeny bit in the form of an angled fork. Why BF did that is completely beyond me.

I could ride no-hands on the Swift within my first 10 min on the bike. Initially I thought it would be impossible since the steering was so twitchy (and also the fact that I suck riding no-hands on my Surly Cross Check).

Oh hell no!!!!

I can't keep my balance with two hands on the bike sometimes.

The other day I tried to adjust my bike mirror a notch while riding. I kissed grass as oppose to pavement. Thank God!
