I found this new concept bike online, it's a single speed bike with a new design. Looks like a painful ride but cool none the less.

somebody tell me why?If it were not for the crummy riding position, the direct drive would be pretty cool.

At least you don't have to worry about toe overlap.

Looks like they totally ignored the golden rule of positioning your knees so it lines up with the center of the peddle axle when you are at the 3 & 9 o'clock position.

I wouldn't mind riding it just for kicks. But I don't think my knees are going to be too happy.

State of the art in about 1850 or so. Except I think most of them had pedals on the front wheel.

You can't even spring or stand up to climb on it. With that sad leg extension, you'd be done on a steep climb.

Controversial topic; the "KOPS (knee over pedal spindle) rule" is about weigh distribution and how forward/rearward the body is in comparison to the bottom bracket and not about having the knee right over the pedal spindle to provide some sort of biomechanical dis/advantage.

Which makes me wonder rather or not this bike would harm us in any way.

I wonder if they are internally gear.
Schlump, made an internally geared unicycle, it was pretty cool. I can't see these being cool in the real world though.

Weld a front end on a unicycle and you got a decent approximation of this bike... but fixed.

I hope you are not referring to the bigwheel! I grew up on that thing (well, if you call 3-5 growing up).

Yeah, this is ridiculous. Your knees would explode after 1/4 mile.

In the video posted after your post the bike freewheels, which schlumpf g-uni hubs don't do. It would make it a little better if it had the internal gear. Still not good enough for anyone to use, but slightly less stupid as a 36 and 54 gear inch 2 speed.

Old, incredibly old technology on a bike. Not even a fixed gear.

Not sure if bike thief was taken. I chose the name due to the fact I an a certified locksmith. And I have nothing to do with the company.I actually found out about this bike on gizmodo. Think what you'd like but, I have never stolen a bike and don't plan to.

I took a bike out of my cousions yard. Techinacally i took it wirh our permission. I didn't plan to steal it. So, i just contridicted you.

As a locksmith can you make keys if you don't have the origin? I have a stupid masterlock that holds down something in the garage. I dont want to hammer it.

it'd be a ton more functional is the seat height adjusted.
and even more functional if it folded in half.

But then it would just be another folding bike. Totally uncool! haha

At 36 gear inches you couldn't do a lot of things without popp'n mad wheelies.

At least the 5-hole is way smaller than on a normal bike.

Clearly this is going to to be the next big thing in polo.

Schlumpf drive (http://www.schlumpf.ch/hp/uni/uni_engl.htm) would be fixed, give a low of 1:1, high of 1:1.5. So 36" and 54".

Still way low.

A+ for design school final project; C- for actual utility.
