Hello bike fans

Why do most suspension bikes use a 4 bar rear link?

What are the advantages over a more simple design, ie the shock mounted directly from the frame to the rear set?

To limit the frame bobing up and down as you pedal.

Single pivot point suspension bikes have very very very simple suspension principles...the suspension action is no different then taking a straw and bending it back and forth into a v shape...hence the quality of suspension travel is poor compared to the multiple bar linkage suspension bikes having much better quality travel where the travel is not like bending the straw into a v shape, rather the travel tends to be verticle.
