So a week ago, I broke my bike :( Just the rear derailleur, but I took the opportunity to upgrade a bit.

And then it got out of hand.

So this weekend, I have X7 rear shifter and derailleur, Deore 9-spd cassette, Deore XT crank, RaceFace bash, BB7s and XTR cables, and a N-gear JumpStop all to put on the bike. 1x9 drivetrain will be the final product.

Anything to watch out for, installation advice beyond the norm, torque spec everything?
How to test before I hit the trail?

Do you have the tools to remove/install the cassette and bottom bracket?

I just put an X-7 short cage derailleur on mine yesterday; I hate to say it, but I managed to run the chain through the cage wrong. I went outside the "cross beam" instead of inside... so uh, don't do that I guess.
