A while back I posted to the forum a story. The fall before last I was in Rome and one of our Dahon Helios bikes had a broken latch. Though two major bike dealers in Rome carried Dahon, neither could order replacement parts for Dahons, but rather had to send the bike back to have it repaired. I was stuck for several months unable to get the part. One of these shops (Olmo la Biciclissima (http://www.olmo.it/)) was always friendly with me, even loaning me tools, and was genuinely frustrated with being unable to help. This discussion continued at the Dahon forum (http://forum.dahon.com/index.php?showtopic=7795). Thor was was fairly sure I was just being blown off. But it wasn't the case.
I got contacted directly, and separately, by both Thor and by Dahon's rep, and they BOTH sent me a replacement part to my address in the US (I was about to leave Italy at that point). The Dahon rep sent me the wrong part. But Thor sent me the right part. :-)
That was last year. I've finally gotten back to where the bikes are stored, Thor part in hand, and have repaired the bike, and it's looking great. Did a fair bit of biking in Romagna (http://maps.google.com/?ll=44.216663,12.242889&spn=0.451766,0.752563&t=h&z=10), an area south of Venice which is famous for its bike tradition (and I mean famous (http://www.flickr.com/photos/cyclist65/4229784602/)). So a belated thank-you to Thor, and here's hoping Dahon has since patched up miscommunication with its Italian dealers.
