Mountain Biking - Bringing bikes and beer together, at last!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

A couple buddies and I have decided that it is time to bring together the two greatest things in the world- biking and beer! We've designed a seat clamp that has an integrated bottle opener. We want to know what you guys think. We have 2 designs- Nectar is a fixed collar:

And Elixir is a quick release:

If you guys like them, check out our Kickstarter project here (http://kck.st/hZDDQi).

so you have to open the bottle sideways? there could be a little spillage in the village.

That's the beauty- you are off your bike when you are opening the beer (hopefully!), and you naturally tilt it toward you. Here's a three part image showing the sweet opening action.

You can go to Kickstarter to see a video of the prototypes in action here (http://kck.st/hZDDQi).

Stop the bitter words
don't you think it's unnecessary

Nope. Joking around is COMPLETELY necessary.

And the words aren't bitter when there's a smiley on 'em.

Now the picture on the other hand, that was pretty harsh :)

beer and biking don't go together to well. my brother-in-law had difficulty staying on the after about 4 beers. it sucked because i would have to fix his bike when he ran into stuff like trees.

Imagine: biking back to your favorite camp spot, towing a cooler of beer and snacks, and sitting around the fire with your buddies kicking back some beer.

that would be different. that sounds more like camping.

I am just trying to come up with uses for this thing. Help me out!

OP....the "at last" part is moot.

Why add all that weight to the frame when this is an option?

Hard to argue with that, but if you learn to use this opener quickly while seated, it looks like you opened a bottle with your buttcheeks, how rad is that?

It makes me smile when people don't even comprehend the level of insulted they should feel. How does that Schwinn ride, lyrill? I think it would look good with some slicks, though.

As posted, there are several options already. Some without even having to bolt any thing *extra* on your ride.

Or bring an option that requires no special tools.

I think it is a novel innovation. I need one. New Belgium Brewery is all compression caps. If that orange is Bronco Orange, my shopping is done.

I've been told my return to fat tire riding is maybe the middle to late May. About the same time the temps break 100. :notamused:

I put my 1960s bottle opener on my downtube. It even has a magnet to catch the caps so that I don't get any flat tires.

BEER RUN is the name of my entry into this years build off at www.RatRodBikes.com (http://www.ratrodbikes.com/).
It has over 80 beer parts on it, including a flashing COLD BEER sign.
You can see more of the bike here

I'm sorry for you that you are missing out on delicious beer :(. Some people never try another real beer after that first budweiser or keystone I guess.

Edit: You are also missing out on a good deal of great wines.
