I Took a very close up video of some deer on a ride, most of it is sped up a bit. They are less than 2 feet feet of where I left the camera at times. Too bad the big buck didn't show up, just some smaller ones and a bunch of does.

i would have taken some of those. don't really care about shooting for rack but the venison. could go for some back strap for dinner.
They look as though they are wintering well.

They are in a suburban park so life is probably a little easier for them.

Hunting with a camera has 2 huge advantages, first is that the same individual deer can be hunted over and over, second is that camera season doesn't end :D

Pretty cool! We were once descending on an MTB ride when a huge buck blocked the trail and wouldn't let us by. He made several stomps towards us like he was going to charge. Ol Rudolph can be pretty freaking scary haha!

I really want to see a bobcat! I've seen hundreds of deer, many coyotes, foxes, skunks, and possums, two brown bears, and one HUGE mountain lion (while I was in a car), but no bobcats. I love cats, so the more kitties I see the better :)

I see deer a lot on my night training rides. It's very exciting to be rocketing downhill 33mph in the dark then come around a curve and realize several deer are about to saunter across the road in front. I keep thinking "somebody's gonna have chili for dinner", but don't know if it's going to be venison chili or cyclist chili. Maybe both.
The deer eyes reflect back blue in my bike headlights, it is a eerie look.
In the area there are lots of raccoons, opossums, skunks, armadillos, loose dogs; a few coyotes, bobcats; and lots of big vultures. The vultures are big ugly birds and very creepy when they circle over me while I ride.

I forgot about the raccoons. I see those all the time too. One time I saw a family of them eating cat food outside. I think there were about six babies and an adult.

I had a deer leap out of the bushes directly over my front wheel on an early morning ride years ago.
We need a volunteer to turn this into a "carrying guns while biking" thread.

Unfortunately, shooting from the road is illegal in Texas. I've thought about hauling my Blackhawk out to the land on the bike during season, though. I'd have to call my wife to haul the deer home, but it's only 6 miles.

I love the taste of moose... stew, pie, roast... but have lost my killer instinct.
I don't fish anymore. Even catch and release seems like I'm torturing the poor things.
What a wimp ass, weak kneed liberal I've become.

A lot of deer, 'coons, coyote, 'possums, armadillos, skunks, and hawks here, too. I LOVE the hawks. From time to time one will swoop down and just kind of glide along beside me about 15 yards away. I guess they've grown accustomed to seeing me ride through their li'l kingdom. It's really cool.

A bobcat would be awesome to get some footage of.

Now that I've got a phone with a better camera and I carry a real camera with me more often, I'll try to get a decent picture of some. The River Legacy Park trail in Arlington, Texas, has several. I had to stop on day because I was afraid the one pooping in the center of the trail would get scared and take my leg off if I ran up on her. I took a picture, but you can't really tell what it is.

I may be wrong, but it almost looks like dry cat food they're eating.

You really do need to be wary of buck deer during the rut or mating season. They do crazy things like attack humans. Have heard many stories of hunters being attacked by deer during the mating season. That is when they run infront of cars usually chasing does. If a doe runs across in front of your bike or car, take caution as the buck may be chasing not far behind. Here, mating season is usually late fall to early winter but can extend to Jan depending on the winter.

It's corn...although yellow snow would be cheaper.
You keep feeding them corn and they will be following you home before you know it. :D

Cool vid, the squirrel was classic. I was also amazed how a simple cyclist caused all animals to scatter.. WOW!!

I finally got another pic of a bobcat with a good camera. The camera was still a little cool, so the lens fogged up a bit. The cat walked up beside me and pooped 4 feet from me. I guess I'm not too intimidating.

What an interesting fur pattern! It almost looks like an ocelot.
I was riding on some lightly traveled roads yesterday. No bobcats or mountain lions, but I did see a deer and two wild turkeys.
