Came a few days ago; no time to shoot until tonight.

First up: the new Crux pedals. Same basic design as the Mentals with a lower profile. Gonna miss my Mags but I'll trade magnesium for a few more millimeters clearance.

Next up: 31 bars. Hesitated on these last year as I wasn't sure I wanted to give up the higher rise (20mm as opposed to 38 for the V-Ones). But the fork's pretty tall, so I'm going to see if flatterer is betterer. 29ers were 'The Thang' just a year or two ago:

29 vs. 31

Sweet...nice to see a lower profile version of the Mentals. What's the weight on the pedals?

I went 31 this year too with a low 15mm rise. Feels pretty good on the bike so far (i.e., riding up and down the driveway).

Hey, the gravel-drive test is sooo much more real-world than the bike-shop-parking-lot test.

Weights: Mental Mags = 427g; Crux = 428g. (pair) Whaddaya know?

Well in my case it's plow packed snow.

The weight's pretty good. The Deity's I got are 350g...super light...I wonder how they will hold up with me on them.

I like the look of those crux's.

I don't want to know the weight of my DX's.

^^ I can't say enough about Syncros pedals. The pins alone are worth putting in ANY pedal they will thread into. Each set of pedals comes with full sets of long and short pins. And the engineering that goes into them: spindle rides on 4 bearings - - a DU bushing, a needle bearing and two sealed cartridge.

When I first built the 303R, I decided to give the Sunline V-Ones a chance (a tip of the hat to Jason Schippers). It was like night and day. One day at Whistler and I slapped the Mentals back on and have been on Syncros ever since.

Back when I rode, I never got comfy with clip ins. Gonna try some of those platform shin shredders.
