Well... it was yesterday. Mayor Daley ordained October 19th officially as "Chaka Khan Day" in Chicago. I already celebrated with my loved ones, but neglected to mention it here!

Soooooo... tell me something good! Give up the Chaka stories. Remember Chaka fondly by playing her songs- even Rufus would be cool, but do something in honor of her memory.

Chaka will rise again... if Anita Baker can do it, so can Chaka!

She should have done a movie, seriously, though.

Tina Turner did those whole Mad Max thing, and I liked it. Chaka would have been good in a role like that.

Go Chaka!

Hmmmm... I don't see the similarities between the two. They both look different to me, from the eyes to the hair.

I'll pass on your message to Chaka next time she's in town. ;)

I don't know, I always thought the eyes were similiar,
both (at least to my untrained white eye) had that
vaguely oriental look to their eyes.
One thing for sure, Chaka has a killer smile.

Her pictures are so good... I took like 50 of them and decorated our health club with Chaka pictures over the past few days and invited people to celebrate the goodness of Chaka. One guy has a total crush on Chaka too, and I had to let him have one of the good Chaka photos. Let's hope next year, it's not just a small group of folks celebrating- it's the whole city! Some of us are very serious about getting Chaka to come and sing in front of the Picasso next year for Chaka Khan day. We're going to get a permit to put up a stand at Daley center and get folks to sign a petition.

I stared real hard at that photo of Chaka... I still don't see the likeness, but they are about the same skin tone... ;) :D

I know what James T. Kirk says. (http://www.khaaan.com/)

(Seriously. She has a cameo in The Blues Brothers, if I recall correctly. In the scene where the Bros go to James Brown's church and Jake sees the light.)

I forgot she was from Chicago. I remember thinking she was the coolest- and I'm a suburban white kid! But even as a teenager, I just loved soul, funk and R&B. One of the "didn't it blow your mind " CDs I have contains "Tell me something good". I still remember thinking that song was the coolest, and that Chaka had a spectacular voice.
