Posted this on the road forum but I have had no ansures and few views so please bear with.
(snip)
Spotted a Schwinn Tempo, 105 6 speed, 22 inch!!!!!
It's built with Columbus Tenax, with TRE TUBI RINFORZATI at the top of the label. This bike is in great shape but I'd like to know something about the tube set besides that it comes from a well respected manifacture.

I have since done some web searches but still in the dark.
My rough translation would be Three Tube Reenforced but thats prolly not quite accurate.
The bike has 6speed uniglide freehub and dummie levers on the front hub, hardly a scratch except in the dropout areas of the fork and stays, asking $225. Blue with white top tube with Tempo in red, down tube shifters, much nicer than my Traveler. Wolber GTX-ll rims.
Many thanks to anybody with info on the tube set, would also like to figger out what year this bike is.
BTW it has room for 700c-32 rubber but no rack bosses, tight geometery.

Tenax is what Columbus later called Cromor--similar tubes to SL with some economies taken in processing. It left the tube set a couple of ounces heavier with no loss in strength or ride quality. The Schwinn you're talking about is a good solid bike although maybe priced a little high and remember the secret--the FEWER gears a bike has the better it will usually work.

The good old babel fish says its "THREE REINFORCED TUBES"

Too bad its not "questa bicicletta va pił velocemente"
