Just had a conversation with my young, cute ,blonde neighbour and she told me her husband was going to be in camp working for the next six weeks and my first thought was "Great,I don't have to hear his stereo when he starts his car." Oh well, at least I'm alive.

Now that's funny. I don't care who you are, that right there is funny.

Alas, there are many things that indicate you are getting old. No denials. To Wit:
-You think young people play their sound systems way too loud, and too late.
-Pretty young girls call you "sir". (as do cops in their 20s or 30s.)
-The blue jerseys in Best Buy leave you the heck alone. (I consider this a good thing!)
-You no longer buy playboy, or the sports illustrated swimsuit issue, because you just cannot bring yourself to yak up the money.
-You get on your kids about how much electricity they are using.
-You are in awe at today's college age kids, who have their own credit cards, cars, cell phones, and expensive clothes. You remember your own college days, when you were rich if you had ten bucks in your pocket.
On the loud car stereos: Is it just me, or are they all listening to the same song?

Methinks it's different songs, they just all sound the same to me.

Well I guess he true answer to the question is Yes we are all getting old. On one hand I hate it, and on the other hand the alternative isn't so great either.

I swore I wouldn't become my dad, I did, and I'm proud of it.
Somebody's gonna hafta explain to me how and why 'ALL BASS' is music; when I can hear a car thumping two blocks away (or more!), it's not 'getting old', it's resenting the hell out of ******** who want to show how 'ghetto' they are -- like that's something to aspire to.
Bass has its place; so does high and mid-range, and balance = music. (And don't get me started about rappers glorifying 'hoes, drinkin', clubbin', slingin', fightin', etc. "Ni@@a-ni@@a" this and "Muthaf***a" that is NOT socially challenging.)
I get on the kids about electricity because the money they could have pizza with goes to the bill; they don't get that I'm not Bill Gates......
Acoustically speaking, the bass couples out of the vehicle much more efficiently than higher frequencies. The sound in the car may be very well balanced, but outside, it's mainly the bass you hear. That's not to say that some people don't jack up the bass to ludicrously high levels.
I realize I may be missing the point..........................but she was hittin' on ya dood!!!!!!

I must be old- nearly missed this too.
But If you want to stay young- get grand kids- they get you reverting to your second childhood (Or would it be third) and you can catch them when they run races with you.

Probably not! I've noticed all the young girls warm up to us harmless old guys 'cause they know we won't be seriously hitting on them. :innocent:
As for the Loud Stereo....I'm the dude with the loud Rock station blasting in my 'Hood'. :)

Sun is a rare thing in Nanaimo so you might have to wait awhile for the pic. :)

Well you go right ahead and get old, and do it by yourself!! :D
I am 70 years old, and I don't want none of that old talk around me.;) I am just as silly as can be, love to ride, and NEVER want to get old.. Sure, every morning I see a new wrinkle, but I ain't giving into that. Let the wrinkles come, let the years comes, I am to busy having fun to even think about it..
So, get old by yourself, I ain't JOINING YA!!

Fantasizing about a young thing hitting on you but not recognizing when it actually happens is getting old.

Nope, sorry -- been IN the cars more than a couple times, it's just as bad; the only difference is, IN the car, there is some evidence of other frequencies.
I surely know about the 'coupling' of the bass; comes through closed windows, doors, walls -- and I've been told "Turn yo' TV up, cracka!"
NOTHING short of an Aerosmith concert should be audible at a quarter-mile................

Those young hotties thing I'm harmless, (which I probably am) and give me hugs and attention, which I love! If they notice me drooling, they just think it's because I'm old.

+1 I listen to music pretty loud at times (my sons, 18 & 20 years old, ask that I turn it down even when it is stuff they like) but it is barely audible outside the van. The "thumpers" are designing their systems for maximum annoyance of those surrounding them.....and are succeeding.
That they ARE -- and they're lucky I know enough about myself not to be armed -- an old soldier with PTSD is not someone who should be armed around a crowd of stupid ********.
That's just the truth.
