cheap generic folder. sorry nothing special about these. weighs heavy, cheap components. the one in your photo is the fiori 6 - 6 speed version. there is also a fiori 8 - 8 speed.

i have been at jvbikes in vancouver a few times (too many as my wife would say) to drool over the various bikes they have. amongst them, strida's, bromptons, ixi's, ori's and of course the dahons. they also have the fiori which i have seen and handled. personally the fiori just doesn't have any appeal to me.
while the fiori are value priced bikes, the fiori just reminded me of some of my earlier folding bike purchase misadventures. I have a walmart folder, and a carcass of a Canadian Tire Schwinn Tango. These both looked good and tantalizing with the bargain price which i succumbed to, and at the time without anything to compare with, they would have been suitable. the bottom line with the lower price folders were lack of gear range (ie - could not go up hills easily, can't peddle fast enough to keep up with other bikes on flat ground) and brakes that would not stop you when going downhill, and just squeaks and creaks galore.
now with a few years of commute and several folding bikes later i made the obvious conclusion that not all folders are built alike. while cost should not always be a factor, there is a price to pay for some better components, and (hopefully) better design. also, you will need to assess why you need a folding bike.
do you need a folding bike
- to keep in the trunk for those occasions you want to go riding in different parts of the country side
- part of a long commute, where you need to bring it onto metro or trains that will not allow full size during rush hours
- because of small apartment or limited space to store
- cool to have, fun to ride?
- to be lightweight and quickly foldable (MuSL)
- stylish and easy to get off and on (Ciao)
if you are looking at your local store where you can try both (or more) i would strongly encourage you to do so. you will discover for yourself what you may like or dislike about each bike, then make your own decision.
