Fifty Plus (50+) - Do you put any stickers on your bike?

During the TDF I came across the "virtual tour" where you could ride in honor or memory of someone and raise money for Lance's LiveStrong Foundation. For $10 I got some "I ride for ____" stickers. They are yellow, black, and white, and they really go well with my bike.

I dedicated my stickers to my grandson, "Iron Man" Tyler. You can read his story here:

He was diagnosed 2 yrs ago with a very deadly form of childhood cancer, neuroblastoma. He has been in remission now for 18 months, and he's doing great.

Yes, very meaningful stickers, and good to see Iron Man is doing well!

I just put mundane product stickers on the bike, but they have to be products I actually like. And the bike gets Canadian flag and Government of Canada logo stickers, so nothing really special.

Back in the old days, ride organizers used to give out sew-on patches for completing century rides. So you'd see fervent recreational riders in jerseys just plastered with patches. I've always thought ride organizers should give out small bike stickers for their events. Then you'd start seeing bikes with top tubes covered in ride stickers. Sort of like the helmets of college football players.

No stickers for me yet and I am not contemplating any. But I like those I see.

I have product stickers on my mountain bike: Park, Mavic, USA Flag since it was manufactured in Santa Ana, CA, DirtRag, SRAM, WTB.

On my road bikes, the two that are SRAM equipped have SRAM stickers, the Shimano bikes are stickerless.

Good idea by lhbernhardt (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/member.php/50975-lhbernhardt) to have stickers for rides! I got one from the Tour of Palm Springs, but it must be for a car window because it's too large for a bike frame.

Not exactly stickers, but some mucous that was produced while riding during some cold weather, mixed with some clay/mud makes a sticky substance that can spackle any paint cracks!

I like the idea of small stickers for events, sounds like a cottage industry! Meanwhile Ohio State University and Florida State University are two of the few colleges that I still see doing that

Yup, real bummer with sick kids. Gina's first son's kidneys failed when he was 17. She donated the kidney, lasted a year then also failed. He's had a ton of problems as some of his organs are reversed in position including his heart. To make things worse, her second son started filling sick at 12 so she took him in for a good check over. Turns out he was born with one kidney and it was already 20% damaged. Both sons suffer from kidney disease.

She doesn't have any stickers but she does have a 10 inch badge of honor that is always with her!:thumb:

As far as my bikes, I have a "Mr Beans" sticker on the tt. It was made before I found out that I couldn't sign on the forums without a "z".

One of my bikes, which sports stickers reading "Long Haul Trucker" across it's top tube, has been begging me to alter the spelling of "Trucker" to a less polite word with an entirely different meaning. I, of course, would never approve of such shenanigans.

A nice sharp "Exacto" knife and a tube of rubber cement would soon fix that. Now to find the rubber cement. :innocent:

Hello Kitty stickers seem to be real popular these days. I recently saw a kid riding around with an empty plastic water bottle wedged between his rear tire and frame to give it that extra exciting "motor" sound. A step up from baseball cards in the spokes.

OT: Reminds me of a trend I've seen among keyboard players, especially in the 1980s: Most synthesizers used in live music performances have the manufacturer's name in huge letters across the back of the instrument (opposite side from the player) ...so essentially it's a big wide billboard advertisement facing the audience. A lot of guys would selectively alter the letters just by covering up segments with black gaffers tape, or adding segments with white electrical tape...so that, for example, Roland became "Poland" and Yamaha became "Yamama". Recently saw someone's Nord transformed into "Nerd".

I don't have stickers on my bike, I'm working on an assortment on the back window of my pickup that my bikes get hauled in. IMBA sticker, + Schwalbe so far, I'll see what else comes up.....

No advertising other than the headset badge. My name is on the top tube, more for security purposes than anything else (I also have my name and phone number hidden inside the seat tube).

I find the advertising thing rather odd, one emblem I will let go, but writing looks terrible. If you spend money to purchase something, why would you want to have your possession covered with the advertising of the company that profited from your purchase? Is it because you might forget what you bought? It couldn't be for others as no one will buy something just because you did. And how about all the model information, why is that necessary to have shown on your bike, truck, snowboard, car or etc?

A Washington Capitals "Weagle" sticker on the rear fender of the Black Pearl. Nothing on either Radagast the Beige-and-Black or Orion, except the stock stickers.

Local mall. There is a cart (and other make up type sales) out in the center where they make stickers for rice rocekts, Hooker header, hot wheels, Toytota, honda type stickers.

Pic the style, size, color then they make them for you with a computer aided machine, put backing on them, then slap them on the bike. I payed about 5 or 6 bucks each side. Many mistake them for paint.;)

WD-40 or "Goo Gone" will get 'em off. AS for preventing theft, I doubt stickers will stop anyone. Maybe if they say something like, "This bike is registered with the police. You will be prosecuted if you steal it."

They couldnt hurt, but I doubt that any thief worth the name is going to be concerned with such things.

Not only do I not put any kind of stickers or decals on my bikes, I take off as many as I can as soon as I buy the bike. Now that I am a crotchety old man I can indulge in all my idiosyncratic pet peeves, one being logos or brand names or any kind of product which has some kind of writing or picture on it. I go out of my way to remove any kind of brand label on anything I buy. In fact, I sometimes do not buy something because I won't be able to get some logo or brand name off. I am not a billboard for any commercial enterprise.
