Girl scout cookies were delivered today. I was being a nice guy and ordered 3 boxes from a coworker who's daughter is selling them for the first time this year. The coworker has bought from my daughters in the past so I was returning the favor. So on my desk I now have 3 boxes(1 thin mint, 2 pb patties) staring and screaming at me to eat them. I looked at the calories. 140 for 2 pb patties, 160 for 4 thin mints. I just lost 10 pounds since the beggining of the year and these damn things show up. :mad::lol:

They'll either make a good test of your willpower or make nice gifts for friends/coworkers.

Ha! My Mother bought a gang of boxes, tried to give me a few but I refused to take them.:D

If you have teens, then take them home, if they are all girls, you probably have teen boys sniffing around the house, put them out when teen boys are around and it takes .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000001 seconds for a box to disappear, end of problem. :D

I ordered 2 boxes for my house, and 2 for the "Troop to Troop" thing where they'll send some cookies over to soldiers. That way I still get some cookies, and I get to help out.

Thankfully I no longer have friends with young daughters so I don't order them anymore. Frankly they are evil. Put them out for your co-workers and save yourself some grief.

They freeze well. Portion them out into small freezer bags to throw into the handlebar bag when you go riding. Take an extra bag for a riding bud. Nothing like a GS cookie out-of-season! Share the misery...

Girl scout cookies are one of the many reasons I DO hit the pedal 3-4 times a week. I just cant say no to a thin mint :)

My 7yr old daughter is selling them this year. What kind of a dad would I be if I didnt buy a box or three :)

She sold a lot this year and so we literally have cases and cases of the things (waitng for delivery) merely feet away from me ... ;)

I buy the cookies also. I got smart though, I donate all of them to the troops. I have always heard that the troops overseas look forward to the shipment of them. I do have a rule in general about fundraisers, I will only buy from the kid, or the person who is suppose to be doing the "selling" of the product. I will support the cause, but I will not buy from a parent. I do not think it helps the kids learn anything if they do not put in the work.

You showed great restrain in purchasing only 3 boxes. I normally order 9 boxes.

My daughter is in girlscouts for the first time this year. My MIL decided that she wanted to buy us a bunch of boxes. We have 12 coming.. I picked out 4 of the flavors.

I'll probably end up eating them in a short period of time.. something about doing the damage all at once is easier guilt wise than spreading it out. Unfortunately I have a zero tolerance mentality for splurges, so even a 2 cookie 140 calorie treat provides guilt.

Off-topic, but there is a Girl Scout billboard on my commute, on the side of a strip club. :eek: Bad ad placement!

They call me the pusher! Thanks for the suggestions. I unloaded 2 boxes to some coworkers who missed the order. That leaves me with 1 box of PB patties. I am testing my willpower and only eating 2 a day(110 calories), unless like today where I went for a 16 mile ride at lunch so I had 2 more before I left but skipped lunch(which ranges from 230 - 320 calories a day). This calorie counting thing isn't so hard, it is a lifestyle change that has been feeling good so far and it is working.

I can't wait until the Girl Scouts have an alternative to cookies. I feel bad not buying them from the kids, but with Type 2 diabetes rates skyrocketing, I can't in good conscience support this type of food.

But there always are a few individuals in the sample that are more than one standard deviation from the norm.

Hey, I love those cookies. The traditional ones with simple white cream and golden cookie parts - I think they uses to be made by Christie Biscuits but now are made by Peak Freens and are no where near as good.

Still though - though - there is nothing better than 4 rows of Oreos and a 500ml container of vanila Haagen Daaz.

And, in the US they sell Haagen Daaz in quarts for cheap at Wegmans. And, Wegmans supplies spoons and comfy chairs.

Yes, I swear, the key ingredient in a thin mint is crack or something. How you can open a sleeve of them and only eat one is physically impossible. Being an elementary school teacher, I find it even harder to avoid them. I simply by the cookies to help the girls out and give them away.

It's Caramel Delites all the way for me.

Right now I'm neck deep in Easter candy. Easter isn't for more than 2 more months. I'm in a heap of trouble. I love Reese's Pieces, but they're too small. Too much candy shell, not enough peanut butter filling, right? So every Easter comes Reese's Pieces Pastel Eggs, which are like big ol' Reese's Pieces. Problem solved, unfortunately.

I can't comment on Girl Scout Cookies (and I won't comment on Girl Scouts for fear of being banned *must not think of Tom Lehrer songs*), but my solution to the 'too much fruitcake at Christmas time' problem is to find the local fire station. Those fit young men will eat anything!

I work with all women, I wam then one man in a work place at 57 people. How could I say no. I've been good just one box of caramel delights.

I've just buy them from undependable people who never seem to deliver them. That way I can tell the next girl scout that asks me that I already ordered them.

You do realize that GS troops will accept cash donations and send your cookies to the local food pantry if you want. That's what my troop did :)

We bought 16 boxes from our good friend's daughter and donated them all to the troops. No temptation involved. We never saw them. Just gave her the money.
