Mountain Biking - X-Fusion forks?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

There are absolutely NO reviews that I can find online. I'm looking at getting the Velvet RL - cheap[ish] and light (3.4 lbs or 3.2 lbs, depending on where you find the details)
Anyone have that or any of their forks?
I'm still skeptical, man.

Still skeptical - is there some previous history?

They are supposed to be really solid forks from what I hear.

First hand use person told you or sales pitch? I just don't want to drop half a grand almost on a dud.
You should check the 650b section of MTBR for firsthand experience. A lot of people there seem to have good things to say about them. Lots of use since they're one of only a couple companies making 650b specific forks.

Cool, yeah I noticed the fork I'm eyeing is for 26 and 650.

Personally, I tend to only use fox. I know a couple of people that have that fork that have a season on them and there are no complaints.
These aren't X-Fusion Velvet reviews?

If I'm going to drop a half-a-grand...I'm going to drop it on something I know versus relying on some best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw someone write a review on MTBR.
RS or Fox

I'm personally with Ed, but I wouldn't mind if someone bought a potentially good no-name fork to let us know how it rides. So long as you've got the money to risk. If not, stick with what you know.
RS or FoxYa, after all, they're the only two brands out there, huh?
What brand do you recommend D? ;)

RS or Fox
The thing is that they're light and affordable. Ok, working at a shop realistically for this 3.2 pound fork I'm looking at $270. Can't beat that.

RS or Fox
There's more than two companies that make good forks. Some times it is good to go against the grain. This is why I'm going to get something other than a RS or Fox this spring and will be likely getting a X Fusion as well.
Yeah...I guess I get a little closed minded when it comes to dampers...dunno why.

Heck my fear of clowns is why I won't consider the Manitou Circus.
Yes, I have a deep instilled fear of clowns.

There's just something wrong with a grown man being a clown. Don't mind if it's a woman, doesn't seem as creepy to me.

Everyone has an unreasonable fear, that's just mine.

I have a fear of all kinds of bikes. It's just not natural being on two wheels like that without falling over.
I have a fear of idiots on the internet. I keep coming back here because I'm trying to conquer my fear.

I rode for 3 hours on some sick trails on a borrowed bike that had a 29er fox on it.. best fork I've ever used. So smooth and never ending, with only 100mm.

I have the 2010 X-fusion Velvet set up for 650B, I have been riding it about 6 months and it seems to handle everything I can throw at it, which is a mix of single track, downhill and all mountain. The only complaint is that basically it is a 100mm travel fork limited to 80mm, their new 650B specific is 100mm. The only thing I would have liked for my 2010 is a lockout, which is in the new version.

I have a xfusion velvet rl2 140 mm 26 in fork , so far best fork on the market stiff , plush and works life a fork should hits small stuff like a marshmallow and big hits well you only know if you use a zip tie or fork band to figure out the fork used its claimed travel its that sweet, 5.5 inches on mine and I get to use 5.5 inches , unlike some claimed travel forks , I have used fox and rock shox both work good to very good but the velvet is all they are and much more the station have zero stiction ! Zero! I use on a five inch fuji reveal makes bike handle like a dream please note the velvet rl2 has 30 mm of on the fly travel adjustment , 140 to 110 and fully active so for the climbs you can knock your front end down 30 mm and when you need some extra travel hit the knob bam full travel best feature I have came across , lock out means lockout not just alil stiffer, they come with internal travel adjustment to 110 , 120 ,130 140 and can be used for 650 wheels all for 465 retail? What mid four bills retail fox would ask for over seven bills and rock shox would put a bunch of plastic parts for seven bills! But that's just my view , action Jackson if any one needs my resume lol been around the sport since 1990 so I been there done that .......,2012 x-fusion velvet rl2 best product for the money please note I don't work for them just really pleased with the fork.
