Former NASCAR driver Ernie Irvin is working on making a child's bicycle safty helmet that appeals to children and works better then what is on the market. Irvin had to retire from racing early due to head injury, and has a foundation set up for researching better safty equipment for head protection.

I got this off an interview with him on "Wind Tunnel", a call in show on SPEED Channel hosted by Dave Despain.

Good anything that will get kids to wear helmets is a good thing.

I know this is off topic but Ernie Irvin was a good racer until he suffered a serious head injury. He was nearly killed and should have retired right there but decided to make a comeback only to suffer another head injury.
