Fifty Plus (50+) - I Declare a Pie Ride for March 7. (can I do that?)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have been laid up since December 13 with an injury. March 7 is Liberation Day and I can resume riding. I am asking that you join me in celebration. I am actually going to ride the following Saturday, March 12.
I hope that I have the clearance to declare a Pie Ride, forgive me if I have overstepped a boundary. :innocent:

You can do anything your heart desires. I can ride that day, but you'll have to remind me.

have at it, I will go a wee bit out of my way into work so I get to 3.14 miles.
Seems like an awfully short ride for such a big celebration, and a week early to boot.

You did it! But March 12 for pie works for me! My daughter will be taking the dreaded SAT's that day, so she would love to have a piece of pie to celebrate that they're over! I'll try to ride in your honor before I indulge : )
Best of luck!

I'll try to, but it may have to be Eskimo Pie for me!
Historically, many of our fiercest winter storms have occured during the first two weeks of March. We're often fortunate just to get down the road in our cars!!

March 14 is Pi day.
I'm thinking that March 12 is close enough - provided, of course, that it's really good pie.

I bought the 2011 Cannondale when it first came out in Oct. 2010. You must've missed when I introduced myself here with my first post. Hi, nice to meet you : ) There are a couple of pics in the thread:

Bare feet. Now that you've put more time on the synapse how is it going? Am considering the synapse myself.

Did someone say pie? :D
All of my rides, these days, are pie rides. Humble Pie.:o:cry:
The talk about pi day reminds me of my first career-related job during grad school. We still had some rotary-dial phones around, and one of the geeks labeled e (natural log base, 2.71828...) just below the 3 and pi just above it.

I ate a piece of peach pie today. Gota stay in practice.

Sounds good to me. I think I'll be in country. Retro - is there anyplace that serves good pie in the St. Pete, Ofallon area?

I'm embarassed to say (because people already think that Missouri is a backwater area) but not that I've found. The best that I can do in the area is Highland, Illinois.

or, I highly recommend the Pie Pantry in Belleville. Its been a few years since I was there, but its directly on Main, just east of the fountain.

Makes perfect! I enjoy a group celebration.
Will ride for pie on March 7
Actually, I'll bake a pie before riding so that I'll know its waiting at home. Only problem may be that it might not be much of a ride to get to the pie. Does around the block count?:D

Thats a great incentive to ride, the pie has cooled. That should improve the average ride speed.
Other than the indulgence what officially constitutes a Pie Ride?

I was wondering the same thing.
Think my mouth is watering already. These Maine winters are tough with no cycling and too many goodies tempting all the time. Am so heartily sick of my daily hour on the trainer in the basement.
Chocolate cream, banana cream, apple crumb, lemon meringue, blueberry (with vanilla ice cream) and of course, apple, warm from the oven. Not to mention the raspberry tarts flaunting their appeal on the counter at the bakery across the road. One hour a day is just not enough to compensate for all this; need to get back to my two hour ride outdoors.
Almost forgot our state dessert of choice: the Whoopie Pie!

Daspydyr, I remember your post in the MTB forum regarding your injury, Oh my! How is your recovery coming? It's good to see you will finally be back on the bike.

If you really want to go all out, I highly recommend a pie milkshake.

My wife and I will join you on the 7th, and again on the 14th as well as September. It all sounds good. But does anyone know of a good pie shop in southern California? A century for pie is not out of the question.

All pie rides must be declared by and approved by the "Pie Ride Committee."
Trouble is, no one knows who is on the committee. Anyone?

Hmmm...I thought it was you, DG, and T-Bomb.
I'll volunteer to be the pie QA tester, having worked in a bakery/pastry shop for a couple years should be sufficient credential.
Entries may be submitted at any time.

I think Stapfam has stepped forward to do the honors.
Sorry I can't do a pie ride on March 7th as I leave on a cruise on the 6th. They don't allow bikes onboard, highly disappointed! I can and will enjoy pie plus ice cream!

The ship may have a gym with stationary bikes. That should earn you some pie.
Every ride I go on is a pie ride, but I don't always eat the pie................
