Classic & Vintage - Which Bike To Choose: Fuji Royale or Schwinn LeTour

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have two bikes. Both 1980. One Blue Schwinn LeTour and one Blue Fuji royale.

Gonna be SS/Sturmey Archer powered.

I already have the schwinn built up http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/183633_1655773709341_1087024055_31708288_6307939_n.jpg

But then a 1980 Fuji Royale popped up on the local cl for 100. I jumped on it. Now I need money for rent on the 1st, and too many bikes which brings up the ?.

Do I make the Fuji my SS till I get my set of superchampion/aw wheels in, then put them on, or do i sell the fuji.

Not familiar with the Fuji but i like the looks of that Schwinn and in general like Schwinns from the early 80s.

Need a pic of the Fuji, but my initial reaction is to adjust the Fuji if it was out of sync and take better pics if it had bad pics posted and repost it for $150/offer as a quick flip.

Without seeing the Fuji, the Schwinn seems like it works for you as it sits. Flip the Fuji, ride the Schwinn, life goes on.

Here is the fuji. Looks to be an 80. New mismatched tires, weird leather cover for saddle, straight bars =(

I'd take the chromoly Fuji (http://classicfuji.com/Models_for_Display/1980%2017%20Specifications%202.jpg) over the 1020 Schwinn (http://bikecatalogs.org/SCHWINN/1980/Catalog/Le_Tour.html).

+1 for keeping the Fuji.....

I'm kind of agreeing. The paint is nicer on the Schwinn, but the Suntour GT drops, and the fuji fork crown vs chrome crown cover on the schwinn. Plus, fuji panto cranks would look nice SS

I like the Schwinn personally...

Hence my conundrum. I have a softspot for 70's schwinns.

I think these Schwinns make good single speeds. I have a 1980 traveller that I've run that way for years.

I'd keep the Fuji geared, and keep the Schwinn, too.

I'd work some overtime or donate plasma or other valuable fluids to pay the rent.

+1 for the Royale, nice bikes....the Royale II was an especially nice bike for the money back in the day.

Take a look at Scottryder's on his blog at http://vintagefuji.posterous.com

I'd stick w/ the Schwinn. I personally love vintage Schwinn and Fuji bikes and am looking for an old Fuji to build up now. That being said, you have a sweet looking Schwinn. It almost looks like it was meant to be built up that way. Very classy.
