Mountain Biking - What else do you do? Beside riding.

What do you do beside mountain biking?
I do bowling, taekwondo, table-tennis, mathematics, counter-strike :D (all with competitions) and then swimming, badminton, racquetball, rockwall climbing..

I am most proficient in bowling and maths at the moment.

So what else do you do when it gets too cold outside?

Snowboard season starts soon :)

I joined my little brothers running club last night. We did about 6 miles at a decent pace and I am in AGONY today, seriously, I was on light duties at work :eek:.

My hips, upper front leg muscles and a tendon in my right foot are seriously killing me...

Funny thing is, I can waste him on bike climbs but he wastes me running; different muscle groups I guess :).

I play ice hockey in the winter and computer games all the time... I find that if I try to do much more than that I can't find time to do everything.

I Ski... quite ALOT duing the winter, I'm an avid skiier mostly ski double blacks and blacks in the poconoes... which are like... blacks in VT and CO

Going to as many Rally Races as possible...

I play in flag-football and full contact football leagues. Its great to get some aggression out.,

I take Spinning classes all year long, but at least three times per week in winter. In my experience there is no way you can push yourself as hard and keep yourself in top bike shape. You'd be hard pressed to get a similar workout on a Trainer.

I also lift weights (upper body only) and on days I'm not Spinning I do 30 minutes on an Eliptical machine.

I'm into distance running bigtime and I used to play rugby. Girls too. I'm into girls most of all.

I'm also into the mixed martial arts, focusing on Muay Thai Kickboxing, Boxing, Brazilian JiuJitjsu and compete in submission grappling contests.

At the moment, I'm injuried and cant do anything.. I'm getting so dang antsy being laid up for going on my second week now.. :P

Funny thing is, I been doing full contact martial arts for almost 3 years now, and never got any real injuries... And on my second serious XC on a technicial course, I nearly break my tailbone and am all laid up.. :P

Biking is more dangerous than what you see in Ultimate Fighting Championship!!! hehe

I've since gotten some bicycle armor... Cant wait til I recover enough to try them out!! :)

During the winter, wrestling and snowboarding. All year round, off roading. I own a 2001 Ford F-250 7.3 liter Powerstroke diesel, banks power of course. It's all of my pride and joy.

*drool* Nice truck, 661.. I wish I had something like that.. My wife is into horses and I haul horses for her all time in my Trusty Ol Rusty 1983 double low manual shift 4x4 Chevy .. Hardcore farm truck :)

Yea, only problem is, Im afraid to do really heavy off roading in it, Id kill myself if I crashed it. I have my eye on a 1988 F-150 beater a friend bought and never used. I can get it for 2,000. maybe in a few years....


[Edit] Oh yes, and THANK YOU for buying an American truck! I hate the nissan titan and that hideous toyota tundra. Toyota is going to get into the 3/4 ton class with a truck they're releasing next year. Man, it must be a joke, it will never compete with the Silverado HD and the F-250. You've got a nice rig though, Chevy trucks kick arse!

Swim at lifesaver level. Play soccer, play cs until I got stripped of my dsl (oct 3). Play starcraft, rollerblade, skateboard. Err, football. Play cards. Yeah, thats me.

sports-wise not much other than mountain biking. what i do other than riding, i work. study religion. and i guess read stuff...

paintball, swim, job, lift weights, fishing, hang out at...places.

I plan to take up skiing this winter. I tried snowboarding last winter and hated it almost the entire time. Going down the mountain sideways is very foreign :)

Past that I do play bball once in a while but spend most of the riding season on a bike. Or drinking on some patio people watching.

A friend and I built a quarter pipe this summer, and I brought his hoffman BMX on it. It's not that hard to learn, but the pain is inhuman if you fall. I put the end of the bars into my groin. That was July, and I can still almost feel it.

I ski a lot (almost as much as I bike), i go to school i play soccer (more than i bike and ski) and i play my drum kit too.

I dont get snow so I'm on my bike all year round :D and if it gets too cold pull out the old hoddie and away I go. Apart from riding I do aggressive inline, some skating, play games (C-S mainly), FOAMY, school (sort of :p ), work and coffee can't forget coffee for those early morning rides or just from having a late night.

Collect firearms and shoot on my range, archery (longbow), spend time with son.

My main two sports that i do are mountain biking and mountain boarding, both really hurt if u fall off, when im not riding or boarding, im recoving, when im not recovering, riding or boarding, im on the computer playing joint operations and CS, now that i finally have my DSl back.... :)

I play racquet ball and swim most of the time now when I'm not riding. I want to start taking up skiing again. I was really REALLY competive when I used to live in Steamboat Springs CO. It was great I was a part of the JO team and skiied 6 days a week 6 months a year. Its hard to find the skiing that I'm used to living in VA. East coast just isn''t the west no matter how hard they try.

So far the most common other things we do is Counter-strike and skiing/snowboarding.
I guess because many of use here live on/near mountains, and have fast enough reflex for counter-strike...

One of the more unique other sports are horse riding, paintball, racquet ball and shooting/archery.. don't mess with hickok45 guys.

already got nearly a foot of snow here :( so no biking, same time i get my new bike too, now its hanging in my garage and i cant do anything about it :P so my winter usually consistes of the gym, alot of running, and school unfortunatly, and if i manage to find some time, off to the slopes for some skiing, hopeing to get into snowboarding soon, should be intresting

Wow, lots of CS players and snowboarders. UT2k4 is where it's at baby, (although nov. 16 when half-life 2 comes out that will occupy all of my free time). I'd love to pick up snowboarding or skiing again (I used to do it in Oregon) but don't have the time when hHS hockey season starts up.

Ummm... What's this "winter" thing you speak of? Here in Fort Lauderdale when it gets oh like Jan - Feb and I dont feel like riding I go sea kayaking. If it ever gets below about 70 degrees F. I go outside and laugh at the locals in their scarves and winter jackets (I'm really from Charlotte, NC but I am forced to live here for now by work, school and my evil inlaws)

I am unoriginal for saying I do some of this stuff.

1. Snowboard (as much as I bike)
2. Play PC games online, right now I am into SWBF.
3. Spend time with my lady and make food / drink some alcohol after a long day.
4. I work. ( that is the ****ty part of life )
5. I teach Guitar for money for my new bike... that I am saving for of course.
6. I play in a band (This is where most of my time is) and we rehearse 4 times a week, we are record another short length CD, and we play around all the clubs and venues in San Diego... I play disc golf (tournament level), ski/snowboard like every one else, mountain biking of course, and offroading my Jeep Cherokee and Chevy pickup as much as time and money (to fix broken parts) allow.

Oh yeah, when its too muddy or snowy to bike, I can be found on my ATV with a chainsaw in the woods cutting down trees, to extend the singletack/ATVtrack trail I have been slowly building over the years on my farm. Its all young growth, hardly any trees can get any thicker than 4 inches in diameter cause its nearly all bedrock in the woods next to my house.

I play squash and soccer, ski, play computer games, rock climb (outdoor or indoor) read and any other random crap I think would be fun. Oh and school and homework :(

I recover from riding

Used to play cs in NeX! clan but the leader got cocky after I kicked his butt several times over. He unclanned me. I wanna play but dial up really sucks. 3-4 to 1 ratio on cs on DSL.

Snowboard as much as money allows for, XC skiing, riding when the snow isn't to deep. I'm trying to get into winter hiking this year, but that might just develop into another money pit for new gear.

Oh yea, school and my job fit in between all of those somehow :p ....and I have the grades and the paycheck to prove that.
