I've been test riding bikes the for the past several weeks when weather permitted and had narrowed down the options.

I made my decision and brought her home today!!

2009 Specialized Ruby Elite. New bike and older model so it was a pretty good price.

Full 105, Shimano 105, 10-speed, 12-27t (Cassette) - 50 x 34t (Compact) Chainring.

Can't wait to take her out for a true first ride!!

Congrats - my wife has the Ruby and she loves it. Couple of thousand miles later and it rides as strong as day one. Good quality bike - congrats again! :)

Very nice bike! Sleek looking and eloquent.

Is there something wrong with me that I think a bike looks eloquent?

If bikes speak to you, then nope, nothing wrong at all. Don't feel bad, basses and guitars have been know to talk to me...

Very nice bike.

My bikes speak to me all the time. Before I rode today my touring bike whispered to me that it may be a little wet on the MUP so I should use it since it has fenders. The other bikes always ask for new things, like new seats and more miles.

It seems when people describe the 105 group they use phrases like "slick shifting" or "smooth" or "bullet proof". Less expensive groups get "good value" or "durable" phrases attached to them. I think you made a very wise choice. Did you know right away that this was the bike for you?

I always describe 105 shifting as "tolerant" - I ask my bike to do some stupid stuff and it never refuses, no matter how dumb the request.

Not too far from that to "forgiving." ;)

Ruby is a great looking and specd. bike. Did they fit it to you? That will make all the difference in the world.
