I found a DT IX FS on CL in my area for a couple hundred bucks with a few extra bells like bar ends and the rear rack. In doing a little research, it appears that model was made in 06/07. Is that correct?

Also, what's the general opinion of this model? I see DT is a generally respected brand but are there any obvious gotchas with this particular model?

Is 200 a decent price assuming the condition is good?

Bike will be used for light commuting (1.5 miles each way to work - walking is just too boring) and tooling around the city. I have a trek mtb for trail riding.

I am around 5' 10" 200lbs.

I am pretty easy to please with bikes. It just has to feel pretty solid and not fall apart while I'm on it.

Thanks in advance!

If it's in good condition, that's a decent enough price, but you may be able to talk them down further. You won't know unless you ask.

I don't personally own a Downtube, but I've been on these forums for a few years, and I have not seen any problems related to this model. As you noted, it's a respected brand overall. No gotchas that I can think of.

I went ahead and bought it. It's in good not great shape and should clean up fine. The QR bushings are pretty worn on the handlebars and where it folds but I didn't see any rust or anything.

I own a DT 8FS and it feels solid. However, it does not like to be folded and is rather untidy when it is.
