So after having one of my bikes stolen (purple / black marbled Titan), I was on the look out for a cheaply priced replacement. A late 80s paramount popped up on CL that happened to be almost the same color as my stolen bike. Purple. I had to have it. Turns out it was repainted (albeit not a bad one) which i had guessed from the original pictures. it also turns out that is a waterford build OS model (oversized down tube and seat tube at BB area), which i believe came out in 89, so that is a big plus.

It was set up as a fixed/SS - and after selling off the most of these parts, its fair to say I got a 'steel' of a deal. I've since built it up with ultegra / 105 10 speed stuff - with a campy aero seatpost and 3T stem/bars for style points.

I'm glad to take suggestions if anyone has ideas for improvement - just don't tell me to put 10/11 spd campy on it, b/c i don't have the $ to switch an entire group - most of these parts I had lying around or bought cheap for this build. It was actually a very much a budget build.

That's a big aesthetic improvement! Nice job! It must be pretty lightweight, huh?

Nice work!

just wondering, is the chain too short? It's hard to tell from the photos.

A BARNEY BIKE!!!! Sorry, my oldest kids grew up with with the Purple Dino and it's ruined me. Very cool bike, I'd love to find one myself. Many happy & safe miles!!

What a fantastic build.

The purple paint and matching bottle cages brought to mind my Peugeot Competition 500, although yours is a far superior build.

The only things I would change would be swapping in a 1" carbon fork and threadless headset/stem, and a compact crankset.

But those are only my personal preferences - aesthetically and practically.

Bravo, bravo, bravo.

Wow. Not only does it look good, you were able to reverse a tacky fixed conversion by doing so. Nice.

Great Looking bike! I love the color ;)

I'm sticking with the steel fork. I just like the looks of it better that's all.
