Today I pull my bike out to go to school and lo and behold the back tire is completely flat. Turns out I had a flat piece of rock the size of a dime (no exaggeration here) stuck vertically in my tire. The rock went through the tread, tube and scratched up the rim tape too.
I could not figure out how in the world it ended up there and am amazed that it managed to lodge itself in my tire the way it did. Anyways I ended up missing my night class :) and spent the better part of the last hour replacing everything.
Anybody have any objects stuck in their tire that made you wonder if someone up there just didn't like you that day?

Heard this wierd rattle...rode slow..sounds like a rock or something?
Have a look..a rusty tack..damn..which pulls out to be a 4mm 5 inch long nail..then I get -pffffffffff.ff.ff...funk!

Nice double puncture, suprised no rim damage.

Not too long after putting Catterpillar Booze (industrial tire-healing stuff) in my bikes tires, I picked up a screwdriver.

What can ya say.

While it didn't occur on my bike, my wife managed to get a railroad spike imbed point first thru her car tire.

Weirdest damn thing I ever saw, can only assume some punks set it upright in the road.

Had a friend find a blasting cap in her hiking boot tread after walking R.R tracks.

Scary.

I've had a bit of experience with demolition...toys. :D Ja, that is scary.

What did she do with it?

Dunno, filled the boot with powder?
She said they just popped it out of the tread with plastic.
But if I remember, they found it in the treads AFTER the hike, so she had been walking on sidewalks, rocks- it was incapable of detonation probably.

Lucky they found it and knew what it was, a child might do something stupid to it when they found it. Bash it with a rock on the R.R. tracks...scary.

Happy Halloween kids, watch your fingers.
