Every once in a while I make a video that I really like. Maybe I'm just a romantic suckuh when it comes to Gina.

Well she had been feeling a little under the weather but her determination to get back into the hills surprises me. She's nto fast and doesn't race up the hills but she gets there. Must be the GMR rides but today she asked for more during the ride haha! One climb up the hill used to be her max.:thumb:

Each hill is about a mile in length.

It's beautiful where you live, Beanz! And so many hills. I envy you, and I'm not even ashamed of it!

Funny, I was looking to use another song on compilation CD. I put in the CD to see if the song matched and this one popped up first. I didn't even realize the song was on this disc but as soon as it started playing, "hey, this is the one!":D

Yes, it is!:thumb: Lots of hills and in the background of some shots and pics, you an see the mountains where we ride GMR etc. Funny, nothing but hills where we live but back in 05, I'd do 30 mile rides, 3 times a week around this area. Or I'd ride my MTB up local trails. Plus I'd do mountain rides up GMR on the weekends. Then I'd do the flat trail only on the weekends. But some posters called me a flatlander, maybe cause I didn't have a camera back then..:roflmao2:

This area in the vid is very popular with cyclist. Nice course and plenty of parks to refill water etc.

Hahahaha! Funny, Gina never wanted to climb. She did on these hills and almost died the first few times. Then she graduated to GMR, the 8 mile climbs (2200ft), then to the village 21 mile climb (5000 ft). Eventhough she wasn't really feeling all that well, she did this ride yesterday. I figured she'd do one climb then be done. She did 3 then said, "I'm not pushing hard cause I don't feel all that well but these hills aren't anything like I remember".:D

Just curious, what's the grade on these hills?

I don't use a Garmin but these are the hills on the ride according to the mapmyride site. I've heard mapmyride is not real accurate on sections of less than 1/2 mile but this is what I got for the climbs. Max 9% on the 1 miler and 14% max on the shorter climb.

Well, if it is even remotely accurate then those climbs are very similar to the ones I ride regularly around here. Definitely capable of causing some good freighttrainism if ridden hard enough:p:D

Yup! Gina is your height, 5'4. When we met, she was 124 lbs. Never thought of riding etc. back then. She'd kill me if I told her weight. But if she got back down, shed kill me on the climbs, maybe even the flats. She says no but she's got a natural small upperbody and big leg muscles. Very strong. If she really wanted to, she'd "bullet train" up the hills.:D

When I was in peak condition in 1991-1993 I was 117 lbs. I tried MTB racing for a few months in 1993 and gained 5 pounds of muscle. I was 122 at my best fitness level.

I did pretty well with the mtb thing until I had to upgrade (still have the medals and a plaque to prove it). Then it turned into a sufferfest that wasn't worth it to me.

I'm sure you can guess what part of a mtb race I was best at:p:D

Thnaks, she was pretty much cruising just to make it (cause we missed riding the wekend, rain). Though I can tell in the vid where that 14% grade was though.:D

Fuuny, I was thinking of some heavy breathing video but she wasn't.:p

I want to see a raw video of you climbing Fargo Street in LA. It's a 33% grade.

Might need something a little lower than your 39/25 though:p:D

Yeah! First off, I don't know where Fargo street is and I'm not looking for it!:roflmao2:

Second of all, I've done a 22% on the standard and that almost killed me but I made it!:thumb: So 33% would be too much!

Third of all, I'm still not looking for Fargo Street!:D

Actually I'd race for pride. I've had othe riders challenge me on big rides. I love a timed event cause there are no if's and's or butt's about it.

One guy I mentioned the (185 lb guy). He challenged me to do a ride. We did, he took off fast but I caught up 15 miles later on the 60 mile climb. Later in the ride he whined that I was drafting him up the climbs. which I don't consider riding side by side drafting. I was holding back conserving energy. After he started whining, I dropped him and beat him by 10 minutes.:innocent:

So after the ride he continued to whine saying I only kept up cause I used him to pace. He said we have to do this again without my drafting.:p

I trained for the next year even better. We did our own thing and I beat him by an hour and ten minutes!:saweeet:

So I'd race for pride but the only thing is, it's hard to find partners serious enough to do so. I'd train all year only to find out they stopped 2 weeks in.:D and me, I'd rather eat my lasagna than train year round for a race based on a personal challenge that won't happen.:p
