Sudden anxiety over nothing, strong over response emotionally to trivial things.
Then again, it might just be a mid life crisis. Quick, run out and get a sports car and a mistress 1/2 your age +5 years.

If you can't get anyhting done because you're banging your head on immovable objects, you might be having a nervous breakdown.... then again, you just might be confusing yourself with a hammer.

I have one about every 30 days. It involves eating a lot of chocolate and curse words.
Srsly. Usually you get irriated over trivial things, sometimes you have angina. Also, while driving you might get the sudden urge to drive off a cliff enbankment. Don't do it.
Do something that de-stresses you. Or get away for a little bit from your stressors.

Thats me every day for the past three months, started helping at the local pet shop on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, keeps me away from my wife which is usually the focal point of my "emotional response," she does it too but doesn't admit it. I figure I'll get better, but if she keeps it up I'll follow part two of your advice Mr. Stormcrowe. :thumb:

As someone who has had twice experienced what I would call, in retrospect, 'nervous breakdowns', I would advocate going and seeing a professional sooner rather than later. The biggest lies you can tell yourself are that you can handle the stress on your own, that you don't need any help, and that asking for help means admitting weakness. No one else told me those things, because I wouldn't open up to anyone about them. I was the only person filling up my own head with those lies, and it was a hard voice to silence. The sooner you do something about it, the sooner you'll feel better, and the less bad you'll ultimately feel. And anyone who argues that you need to pull yourself up by your bootstraps, or any other such nonsense is full of it. That's arguing simple physics against extremely complicated (and poorly understood) neurochemistry.
If you are feeling overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, depression, or are having difficult obsessive/compulsive thoughts, then go and find a professional. A priest or a pastor, a rabbi or imam, a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a social worker, or even your family doctor if you have a good one, and you have a good relationship with them. I have found that even the simple action of booking an appointment to talk with someone makes me feel better, even before actually talking to them, because I feel like I'm taking care of myself, and it reminds me that I am important, and how I feel matters. And going in and talking to a professional was even more helpful. Don't decide that you're going to do it next week, or in a few days- do it now. Call your doctors office and make an appointment
I'm not catholic, I'm not even Christian (I'd say I'm an atheistically-leaning agnostic), but there is a large catholic church very close to my house. I was feeling absolutely terrible one day, and I walked in and found a priest to talk to for about a half an hour.

Physical symptoms of a nervous breakdown
Sleep disruption - much longer periods of sleep or insomnia
Diarrhea
Constipation
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Breathing problems
Migraine headaches
Low libido
Memory loss
Disrupted menstrual cycle
Extreme exhaustion/fatigue
Feelings of persistent anxiety or panic attacks
Significant changes in appetite, such as eating too little or too much (comfort eating)
Visual/eye disturbances
Emotional symptoms
Anxiety
Depression
Agitation and restlessness
Indecision
Loss of confidence and selfesteem
Inability to stop crying
Feelings of guilt, poor judgment
Disinterest in social life and work or alienation from previously close friends and family
Hearing voices
Inability to pursue a normal life, normal activities or normal relationships
Increasing dependence on alcohol or drugs
Paranoid thoughts, such as the thought people are trying to harm you
Seeing people who are not there
Thoughts of dying or wish to die
Thoughts of grandeur or invincibility
Having flashbacks to a prior traumatic event
Hearing voices
Behavioral symptoms
Mood swings
Strange behavior such as odd body movements or undressing in public
Exhibiting strong or violent anger

When everyone around you is breathing wrong and subsequently need to be punched in the face to correct it. This too shall pass...maybe. Hang in there :)
