I'm not familiar with Win-7. Where you disable the mouse-pad?

Okay, right click on your desk top and click personalize. This will bring up a window with an address bar. In that address bar click the section that says control panel. Click hardware and sound. The first option will be device and printers and there should be an option that says mouse. That will take you to the mouse settings :)

Hmm. Do you have something else connected? Also what kind of lappy?

A wireless mouse. And it's an Asus. Not mine tho, a co-worker here who is annoyed by the cursor randomly moving when the touchpad is touched accidentally while typing.

Is there a small button above the touchpad by any chance?

Try downloading the driver directly from Synaptics if it's a Synaptics. The downside is they have 2 spyware apps that they want running 24/7 for that to work.

Easy way, without any spyware required - just tape a piece of cardboard over it with duct tape.

There should be a small button above the touchpad. Press it.

Failing a button above the touchpad, like MillCreek suggests, you will need the software from the touchpad manufacturer like TexasGuy suggests. Check the laptop manufacturer's website for the drivers.

Just went through this on an attorney's laptop. He volunteered to be a Win 7 guinea pig. Found out, we absolutely needed the touchpad drivers.
