This bike is really quick, faster than the Brompton I used to own. The frame is actually 7005 and not 6061 alu as advertised, so I presume it must be from the very last batch made. The peddles are the only thing I think need upgrading. Two small threaded holes under the main frame at the front have me puzzled as to their purpose.

dunno anout price as i am dollar handicapped ...lol maybe euro but ahn it leaves me...
the prestolite is a great bike.... a little more flexible than a curve but a little litfghter as well.. as long as you ride it sensible the flex will never bother you. I used to have one and sold it .:-( than I got a helios sl 20 year edition , which is basically the same in 20 inch, also super light also a little flexy but super super cool and i love it )

good choices in component upgrades

The name prestolite begs the question: how much does this bike weigh? I may be a little bleary eyed, but I didn't see the weight in the specs.

The standard spec Prestolite was supposed to weigh roughly 18lbs. However I don't think recorded bike weights are Dahons' forte.
As a guess my bike with its bigger chainset, BA tyres, wider wheels and rear rack feels a little lighter than my Speed P8 and 6 Speed Brompton.....maybe....22-24lbs????. I will put the bike on scales sometime in the future.

With a 53 chainring and a 14t sprocket the bike really moves, feels like 30mph is possible on the flat. Since I only have an IQ 15 points higher than a chicken does anyone know the gears in inches this combination produces coupled with a Sram T3 hub gear?

Still reasonably happy with the bike. It can keep up easily with other folders and even large wheeled touring bikes. The only real fault and it's very annoying is the frame design. The small top bar joint squeaks and groans and flexes. Dahon must have over looked this at the drawing board stage. I found a quick fix by putting a small piece of cloth between the two metal joint sufaces. A bit of a bodge but it works.
