I came across an ad for a Maruishi SR-5000. I've never hear of this name so I don't know anything about it. The ad says it has Santé Shifters, Santé Rear derailer, Shimano 600 brakes, Shimano 600 crank, Nitto Stem, Shimano biopace front chainring, Continental Ultra Race tires. They're asking $209.00. Is this a fair price?

nice looking bike. with Sante and 600 I would take a chance on it if it fits. the seller says 60-62cm frame, is that a 60cm seattube or 62?

I'm guessing 62 by the looks of it. I have a 61cm Super Sport sitting here and the Maruishi looks a tad taller. I'm thinking about getting it for my wife, she's 6'1", and I'm looking for something that's fairly light for her. Would this be considered heavy bikes or more on the lighter side?

T-Mar's take:

Mixing of Sante with other components is atypical, but apparently it is original. Sante puts the bicycle during the period 1987-1989. I do have literature for a 1987 SR-5000 showing Sante derailleurs mixed with 600EX crankset and Dia-Compe 400 brakes on a Tange #1 frame. It sold for $849 US and had an advertised weight of 21 lbs. The color scheme is typical of the Sante equipped bicycles, which emphasized appearance, trying to attract the boutique crowd by cashing in on the Miami Vice trend.

I'd say it's worth it. But it was reposted after two days ($219 25th, then $209 27th), and it's not a well known name, so you might have some leverage.

That's what I'm finding out. I've checked everything I can and even a few japanese sites that I can't read in hopes to see a pic of one. But I can't even find an SR-5000 at all. It would be nice if I could at least find something that says it is what it is and not something someone threw some decals on. I'll check it out, If nothing else the components will go good on the Fuji I'm building.
