I dont really know a whole lot about bikes but considering I havent seen it yet this sounded ok to me. Do you think its worth a drive to check it out? The last bike I had was a 15 speed my parents bought me when I was 12 so any feedback would really be appreciated. Thanks :-)

75 is a good deal for a solid road bike like that if it is ready to ride which it sounds like it may be considering seller discussed many overhaul aspects he / she has completed - i have a varsity and it is a heavy but sturdy ride and i enjoy it in the stable very much

parts cost add up quick so if this is a bike where you can hop on and go then i say you will do well at this price
check those sidewalls - many folks advertise their bikes as RTR when indeed they are not

Price is fair and the USA built Schwinn Varsities can't be beat. They are heavy, but they are vitually indestructable.

Older Schwinns were made to last a lifetime. If the seller has gone through it as well as he says, then it's certainly worth the money. Their geometry is very nice for street riding, with sweet and forgiving yet fast-enough handling and comfortable position, at least in my experience.

On the other hand, they're very heavy and the rims are steel -- slow acceleration and very poor stopping when wet -- and the rims are 'straight sided', without hooks to hold the tire bead -- some tires may require lower pressures else they tend to slip off the rim and cause the inner tube to 'splode. If it needs new tires, check these forums for suggestions on tires with a tight fit that will stay put on straight-sided rims.

Before driving all that way, be sure it's likely to fit.
