He was great in Empire of the Sun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ouJ_WyS9v8). Pretty much stunk-on-ice in everything I've seen him in since. (Except for the video when he froke out and used a bunch of cursewords at the hapless best boy/key grip.)

I have no idea and I haven't watch his movies and/or don't remember him.
Have you seen, The Machinist?
What he put himself through for that role was astounding.
I don't know that I would want to hang out with the man, but I think he's one hell of an actor.

Yup, pretty amazing in that role. It's hard to watch at times knowing that there's no CGI--just one emaciated dude.

Damn good movie - I should try that diet he was on. He's a good actor. Nailed it in The Fighter.

He's a hottie. I liked him in American Psycho, The Machinist, and a few others.

+1 on him in American Psycho.

Really? American Psycho?
I made the mistake of reading the book, and then I saw the movie just because I knew they'd have to water it way, way down. (And they did; curiosity satisfied.) I suppose that wretched book pre-ruined the movie for me.
There are some things you can't unread. (Though I've drunken enough liquor to float a battleship since then in a effort to do so.)

Dude seemed like a decent enough chap last night. Thought he was going to start crying in his speech.

Even more amazing is the fact that his next movie was Batman Begins.

I like Bale. He's got a couple embarrassing things in his personal life but so does everyone. It takes a Mel Gibson-level of screwing up for me to write off an artist I like.

Yep. I loved that movie

Dear people (hopefully) making a third Batman:
Drop the gravelly growling voice that Bale gets when he puts on the suit. It makes no sense and it's irritating as hell. Otherwise good movies.
+1 that and the stupid dragon movie with Matthew Mconaughey.

No, really, I can't say I've seen ANY of his films.
EDIT: Okay, I did see Captain Corelli's Mandolin; he played a supporting role in that apparently.
