General Cycling Discussion - HELP! Bike is too big, any suggestions

So I ended up buying a bike thats too big for me. I want a few suggestions as to how I can get closer to actually riding my bike.

My problem right now is that I can't reach my pedals unless i wear some really thick soled shoes. I only have regular pedals on my bike right now.

I was thinking of getting a seatpost that is completely straight up until the seatpost so I can jam the thing all the way down there and get a shorter distance from my pedal to the seat. Some other guy also suggested going clipless with cycling shoes.

My last resort was cutting down the seat tube but i think I would rather just buy a new frame before I did that.

I have a Bianchi Reparto Corse D2 Crono Aluminum '06-'07 triathlon frame but its a size 59 cm. My pista was a 57cm and it fit fine. I'm around 5'10

Actually if you bought it at an LBS, I'd return it. It should have been their responsibility to make sure it fit you.

But as you don't say where you bought it, I suspect that you bought it online and are paying the price for not having bought it at the LBS. Your options may be more limited. They may take it back if you can return it in the original shipping container, but you'll probably have to eat the cost of all the extra shipping. Other than that, your options are pretty much sell it, give it away or turn it into an art bike and ride it without a seat. ;)

Can you post a picture of of the bike showing the seatpost and saddle? Does it have some kind of setback seatpost, so that it can't go all the way into the seat tube?

Longer cranks may help when the pedals are in the up position but they will be even further away on the bottom. If you can't reach the pedals the handle bars are probably too far away too. It's a bad fit - take it back and get the right fit.

You can strip it and get a frame that's the right size
but you don't like the components
then put the other parts on it instead.
sounds like a 56~ 57 is what you need , sell the 60 to a 6+ footer.


Kludge: Shorter cranks 165's, plain seat post with a separate saddle clip
they can be flipped to be ahead of the seat post.

But if you hurt straddling over the top tube , get something that fits.

That's actually the opposite of what he wants. With longer cranks the pedal will move farther down on the down stroke.

your Pista was a 57 but you bought a 59 road frame? that was somewhat dumb unless it was a real good deal, like a nice pair of pums a half size small.

Longer cranks would only make the problem worse. Shorter cranks would be a better solution. Best to sell and get another.
