Well, we took the plunge last night and got our family membership to the YMCA. I've got a 12 week program to prepare for a triathlon, which I'm planning on competing in this June, so this works out pretty well. I did a total of 200M this morning - not consecutive - 25M at a time, short rest, 25 more, for 200 total. I'm beat, but it's a good beat :thumb:

Good for you. I just started swimming at the beginning of January. This morning I swam 550M. I only swam the first 50M consecutively. The rest were 25s. I've never been a swimmer, but I can tell that I am getting stronger and am getting more confident in the water. Stick with it!

I enjoy swimming and always have. I also enjoy cycling. What I don't like is running, but I'm going to push myself to do it.

See if you can find a coach. It will really help.
Start with 1/2 hour per week, and the rest of the week you practice what you were told.

Way to go! :thumb:
Nothing beats swimming for me - joints, lungs, large muscle groups - all feel so much better after a good swim.
I've had a difficult time finding my way back into the pool this winter though - outdoor pool :innocent: ....but I did it all last winter so I have no excuse!
awesome work! I started swimming last year to train for my first triathlon and was gassed after 25 yds...now I'm knocking off 2000 yds a session without a problem. You'll get there too!

That's VERY encouraging! I did 20 minutes on the stationary bike today and feel GREAT! Could have done more, but I'm following Joel Friels' First Triathlon book and that's what the scheduled workout was for today. I'm holding off on running because of my knees, and I know I can walk a good portion of the "run" if I need to, so I'm going to save my knees. I'm going to shoot for 1/2 run and 1/2 walk in the triathlon - it's a 5K run.
