Why are the tips of the leaves on my spider plant turning brown?

BTW this isn't an "Go Ahead, Ask jsharr Anything" thread. This is some serious zchit.

Water them with distilled water. Also might do stuff to increase the surrounding humidity such as a bowl of water with pebbels/stones that they don't have access to but is open and directly underneath.

texas guy got it right. Too dry or too much direct sunlight if we are talking about spider plant or airplane plant, chlorophytum cosmosum. If we are talking about a dracean marginata, some call it dragon plant, then tip burn is due to flouride in the water. In either case, using distilled water will not hurt.

Couch and I have a double bad whammy at indoor plants so forget the DEA helicopters - anything couch and I come in contact with that incorporates indoor plants - will die. Even cactus, we suck at this. :D

The plants spend Summer outside in mostly filtered light but do get some blasts of morning sun. They get whatever rain that falls and well water, so no flouride, with the ocassional Miracle gro mixed in. I thought they might be missing some essential nutrient.

Moving from indoors to out, or vice versa could be an issue here, but most likely is not. Sometimes field grown tropical plants do not do well once moved indoors, unless they are properly acclimated first. Never been involved in that process, so no advice to offer there. In your opinion, has the amount of like the plants received changed substantially? Is the plant directly in the path of an air vent for your heat, where it might be getting dried out on the tips? Just some thoughts.
