" This Italian handmade Sannino has been in dry storage in the Mohave desert for 25 years. It hasnt been ridden since 1985 when it was ordered for and used in the Film "American flyers" staring Kevin Costner. It was raced by the Russian world champion character and saw a lot of action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PepXl1aQmMY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PepXl1aQmMY) is a link that shows the bike close up at 2:59 minutes into the clip just before its rider gets dropped.
After shooting wrapped the prop master placed it in storage, a sort of time capsule, until I recovered it last month. Before filming Mr Sannino insisted that the bike be painted so that it wasnt entirely red, the standard color of all his frames. He didnt think the reds should be depicted in the film riding red bikes. Go figure. The studio sprayed what looks like white Krylon and added white and green pin stripes as part of the deal. This actually adds a lot of charm to the bike and ensures authenticity. The krylon is beat up but the original red finish underneith is in good shape with a few chips here and there. The vinyl pin striping is delicate and scratches off easily and it shows. There is a small dent on the top tube near the seat post that's not too noticable. Also one of the brake shoes is missing. The brake hoods completely disintegrated when removed from storage from all the years exposed to an extremely dry climate. Tubulars are also completely dried up but are still on the rims flatter than pancakes. Now the good: Not a speck of rust. Parts are all original, even the bar tape, and are in great shape with few blemishes. All Galli components except for Campagnolo Super Record derailleurs (builder had ties and a strong relationship with Galli). Has a Sannino engraved stem. This guy built especially nice frames and supplied the Soviet and Polish national teams at the time as well as pro riders, hence the choice to use his bikes in the film to add realism. The level of craftsmanship rivals that of a Masi or De Rosa. Very nice patena on bike to boot. Size is 56cm. I prefer not to ship internationally but may make an exception if contacted prior to close of auction. US shipping is $80."

This has been up a few times. Same ad also, he needs to change it up a little. I do think the price is down about $300 if my memory serves me right.
"American Flyers" is one of my saved searches on eBay along with "Coors Classic" and a few others.
