Road Cycling - Composite wheels?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What are your thoughts on these? I spotted some cool ones called "Aero spoke"....How do these compared to regular spoked wheels in performance and price.
I think they look awesome....there is a picture of them on page 55 of the bike picture thread (2004 Fuji team SL)

They are on the heavy side... note my later post that states a 2lb gain from the Aerospokes. These wheels really come alive on time trial style rides, long, steady, fast pace.... Not the greatest for sprinting and climbing, hence why I have two sets of wheels depending on what kind of ride I plan....

How much did they cost you? (I'm trying to find a place that sells them) I love they way they look.....
P.S. yeah heavy wheels do maintain speed better (inertia)

its actually becuase they are more aerodynamic. the fact they are god awfully heavy is a bad thing, imho.

I'm thinking you might like what I like, which is a very stiff rear wheel such as any 30mm deep alu rim. I don't even care what I have on the front, but on the back have either a Mavic CXP30, a Rigida DP18, or a Velocity Deep V. I don't give a stuff if they're a bit heavy, I LOVE 'EM. When you get up to "stomp", they're as stiff as anything -- cheap, too. :D

Get the Hed Tri-spokes, (used to Specialized) Word on the street is that the only faster wheel is a disc.

It is actually a mix of both inertia and aerodynamics... Each blade is shaped like an airplane wing (wheels are directional), but the weight of the wheels makes it very easy to maintain speed once you get there.....
53-11 alltheway,
I bought them for $499 directly from Aerospoke's website. I recommend getting there computer adaptor as well, since there is nowhere to mount the magnet for your computer.
