Hello everybody!

Me and a friend are planning to ride from Arcadia to San Bernardino and back this weekend. We have never been anywhere near there and we have no idea about the road conditions. I planned a route using ridewithgps.com, but I do not know if the roads are OK(bike lanes??).

Ride with GPS route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/302984

Have any of you ever been on Baseline rd.? How are the road conditions? Should we use a different route instead? Thanks!

Also if you guys know of any good routes around the area for beginners please let me know. We are tired of doing the same rides over and over again!

P.S. If any of you are looking for a moderate ride around the area, me and my friend do this often:

It's always a really nice ride. Just letting you guys know!

Well, it's been a long time since I rode that route (I grew up there, but moved away 20 years ago), but I don't think you're have problems. Decent roads, moderate traffic last time I visited (in December). Talk to Steve at Open Road Bikes in Pasadena- he'll know the local conditions better than me.

Thanks I was checking out google street view and the roads looked fine. I will try to ask at Open Road tomorrow. I have to go get a tube just in case I get a flat.

If you're going past the 215, you'll want to drop down to the 9th street overpass. The one on Baseline is under construction and too dangerous for cyclists.

Any particular reason why you aren't taking Huntington - Foothill - 5th street? I used to go from Ontario to Santa Anita via that route a long time ago.

if you do not have a specific destination i would rather ride on lemon/banyon/lytle creek/glen helen to the north part of san berdo. somesmall hills but less traffic and lights.
