Just got word from LADOT and Culver City that the construction on the Ballona Creek path south/west of Overland should be finished and the path completely reopened by 3/28. Now if they'd just resurface from the start of the path at National down to Duquesne.

Thanks for the update George! I was getting tired off slowing down, crossing the bridge and trying to get across traffic to get back on the path again. Do you know what took them so long?

They were tearing out and replacing the concrete retaining wall and resurfacing the path, so i don't think it's that long, really. From what got passed to me from the Culver City engineers, it seems as if it was done pretty much on schedule. I'm also looking forward to being able to have a straight shot down without have to get off the path, cross Overland, and then go back over the pedestrian bridge to get back on the path.

Cool. Maybe I'm just too impatient :)

I used to commute on that path back in the 80s.

Have there been any attacks of cyclists on the past in recent times? I know in the past that this has been a problem

Don't know. I am on it 2 to 3 times per week day and night and haven't had an issue.

You must've missed the detour over the bridge. If you're going NorthEast towards LA, you just make a right over the bridge and then make a left at the street and get back on the trail across the intersection. If you're going toward the beach, the path forces you up onto the intersection and you just cross over it make a left and hit a right at the first street you come to. Then, just follow that street until it gets to the little bridge on the right which will put you back on the trail again.

I live across the street, and ride it several times a week from Sawtelle or Inglewood down to the beach. Haven't had a problem.

Was back this last weekend and construction is finished. A nice wide, smooth stretch of asphalt for a couple of hundred yards, plus some re-landscaping.
