General Cycling Discussion - Handlebar Idea Question?

I know this is probably a stupid question but why aren't there any drop style handle bars with a poll connecting the end of each side of the bar. That is to say, a poll from end cap to end cap. I'm aware it might not work with some stems and it could be a little unstable but, it would be nice for different hand grips in the aero position without buying a aero bar.

Anybody know anything about this or where to find it?

In the past there have been aftermarket add-on brackets going from one one barend to the other.

Scott Drop-In Bars were kinda like that, but didn't go all the way across because back in those days road stems didn't have removable faceplates.

Ive never tried trekking bars, they look comfortable though.

Trekking bars offer a fore and aft rather than an up/down variation.

I like them, .. i'm not young and flexible, so that has some influence ?

I think at one time someone did make a bar or pole (not Poll) that connected the drops.

Don't know about you, but on my road bikes. that bar would hit my knees.

Yes, and depending on the reach of the stem, it might be blocked by the head tube.

This bar would be cool if there was some backwards sweep to the top and bottom flat section. Bars with no sweep hurt my wrist. I think Nitto should modify their Randonneuring Bar like this. That'll be the ultimate bar for me.
