Southern California - new from riverside and need some advice on buying a bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, im new to the cycling game and im really hooked. ive been going to a cycling and spin class everyday now for a week. im looking to buy my own bike. im looking to do casual riding maybe to and from work. some weekend group rides. hopefully a compettion here and there. i was looking to buy the trek 1.1 but one of the managers at work is trying to sell me this bike and i know nothing about it. he wants 900 for it. How much would u pay for it? are these good bikes? any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

That's an older Kuota K-Factor, a time-trial/triathlon specific bike frame. $900 would probably be a decent deal for that bike but you are probably looking for a road specific bike. If you're spending $1k on your first bike, I'd go to your LBS first.

Finding a bike that fits is the most important. That Kuota looks pretty tiny.

its a 52cm
I would avoid that bike as it will not be comfortable as a daily commuter. Go to your local bike shop and talk to them, find out what size you need and try a few bikes to find out what kind of bike you are gonna be happy to ride.
