General Cycling Discussion - Biking trails with your dogs in carrier?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am just getting back into biking. My husband and I plan on biking the creeper trail mainly along with some other local places as well. Would it be ridiculous to at times - maybe when we are going to be gone all day to take our dogs with us in a pull behind dog carrier? I didnt know if this would be appropriate or if it was more for just road biking?
We used a Bob Yak trailer for our dog or for hauling camping/hunting gear and it's certainly suitable for off-road riding.

I've got a 140 lb Mastiff, this has never crossed my mind.

I make my dog (mini dachshund) run next to me on a retractable leash. He'll do 10+ miles at a tiime at a decent 10mph pace before needing to rest for a few. If I were going to be out all day, a trailer would be a nice solution. No reason it shouldn't work.
Any pics of the dogs?
Here's a few of mine.

God gave dogs four legs for a reason. Take the dog if they can handle the distance you're going. Otherwise, leave Fido at home.

I recommend putting a harness on the dog to prevent choking.

I've seen folks haul their dogs to the dog-park in baby trailers. If the dog has a calm temperament, it should be fine.

Yes, you really need to train them to walk properly. I use sound signals to let him know what we're doing.
