Hi Everyone,

I need to get out to York University next weekend from Dupont and Dovercourt.

Checked out some routes on ridethecity.com/toronto, and they all involve a leg on Keele St.

My normal commute is to bay and wellington, so mostly bike lanes on city streets with slowish traffic - this would definitely be a change.

Is there anyone out there that does this ride or a similar ride regularly? How is it? Can anyone recommend a decent route?

Google Maps recommends a route that doesn't involve Keele:

http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=dupont+%26+dovercourt,+toronto,+on&daddr=keele+%26+steeles,+toronto,+on&hl=en&geocode=FbJYmgId8fND-ym5gZJDZDQriDFIIt2TZGECKA%3BFVwNnAIdEQND-ykjY_i-Py4riDGlNjo_9xHvOw&mra=ltm&dirflg=b&sll=43.72497,-79.46363&sspn=0.137948,0.270195&ie=UTF8&ll=43.727196,-79.463768&spn=0.137943,0.270195&z=12&lci=bike

It looks like a decent route. I know the Faywood leg is nice, I've ridden that before. There's a short stretch on Finch, which isn't much fun, but doable. And another on Steeles. I haven't ridden Steeles that far west before, up where I live it's a bit death-defying but hopefully out that way it won't be too bad. If you go to the west of Downsview instead of the east (which clearly would be shorter), looks like there's not much you can do to avoid Keele. I don't know how it is riding on Keele, I've never done it.
