Southern California - Throwing bottles-everyone loses

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

To the guy in the UC Cyclery kit on the sdbc A ride, I know that driver was being a total jerk and deserved to get punched in the face, but you throwing your bottle at his car was extremely poor form, not only does it piss him off even more, it put the rest of us riding behind you, at least 15-20 people in extreme danger with a bottle rolling around on the ground. We were pulling between 25-30 at the time and many of us had to brake suddenly and swerve to miss your bottle. I think someone behind us was not so lucky. If someone here knows that guy, please tell him to think before he does something like that next time. Maybe just squirt his car or do nothing and let us glare at him at the stop light.

Word.
I've had some fun rides w/SDBC but that kind of ******ry and dangerous behavior is all too common. I mentioned riding with them to a friend who is a very experienced local cyclist and he said "SDBC stands for Super Dangerous Bicycle Club." Every time I've been out with them there's been a report of a crash or a near-crash, in part because of knuckle-headery like that. Granted they do good things for cycling in San Diego, but still-- rider beware!

everyone should borrow a clue from the mario cipollini guide to cycling.
Granted, that was an extremely stupid thing to do. I'm relatively new to the SDBC, having only ridden with them about 10 times. I think eyeheartny may be over generalizing a bit. Every ride I've been on has stressed safety first, and the "D" rides take time to instruct people about safely riding in a group.
I think part of the problem here is that this happened on the "A" ride, which is composed of a lot of racers and riders full of adrenaline. On top of that, there are a lot of them ( I think I saw about 50 of them leave together on Saturday ) and they go pretty fast. Not trying to make excuses for the idiot who did that, but it doesn't represent what I've seen in the B or D groups at all. I can't speak about the A group, because I'm not fast enough to ride with them.
Maybe just squirt his car or do nothing I would go with the latter. I used to do that when I was 16. I didn't know back then that the car always wins...
