I have the oppurtunity to get a 600 crankset for $25. Should I? I've been looking into getting a 144 crank and I'm pretty sure I read that these are 144. I have a sugino messenger right now. What kind of bb does the 600 need for a good chain line?

25$ is a fair price for a pair of later 600 cranks, it's a deal if it includes a BB and has a decent/original ring on it, and it's a screaming deal if it's a NOS set, but if it's just a pair of knackered arms from the local bike co-cop you can get a better price.

I am assuming it is with the original chain ring, but no bb. Here is a picture.192542

Tri-color Shimano 600 crankset is not 144.

$25 is a good deal. I sold my set with crappy condition rings and partially scratched off logos for $50.

But yea, these are not 144 BCD. They are 130 BCD.

I have some tricolor 600 cranks on my conversion with a 68x107 bb with a good chainline. They are nice road cranks.

Can't go wrong for $25 IMO. Old 600 and Dura Ace are great no matter how you slice it. I passed up on some 600s for a bit less than that, I have Omniums now but the 600s would have been great.

I've been on the hunt for 600 tri-color cranks... I'd jump on that like a trampoline!

I was planning on building up a geared road bike in the next few months anyways, so this should work out!

I run these cranks on my fix-they are very nice quality cranks. They are 130 BCD, and I use a 103mm BB to get a good chain line with a ring mounted in the outer position.

I have the tri-color cranks on my road bike and I really like them. Light and stiff (at least in the time of square taper.)

I have another set hanging on my wall because they're 175mm and I don't wanna use them on my FG. Honestly I don't know why I bought them, I always have 170s on my road bikes. PM if interested...
