Hey all,

I have a 2002 Fox Vanilla RC rear shock and at the moment it is getting rebuilt- but thats not the problem.

I have a 650 pound spring in it- perfect for my weight BUT its not as plush as it should be. My friends' rear shocks are way plusher than mine, dont you think an RC should be plusher than a Vanilla R or a Rockshox Pro Deluxe?

I can't help thinking its my pivots but they dont feel like they're grinding or anything. I cant nor can my friends work it out!

Yo it could be the linkage setup, the way your FRM is, they aren't as plush as mine and Chris's design, and is no where near as plush as Peter's D8. It's your bike's design.

Also you don't want it too plush, but can you tell me what your shock's stroke length is, but I thought you should be running a lighter spring because I thought it was a reallt low comression ratio.

Gotta agree with hopper. My bighit is not a plush bike. Compared to the giant DH which is like a sofa. In my case anyways it feels wrong in every way. But the shock is fine, the linkage makes it feel stiff.

Also have you tried removing all preload and turning the compression knob right down. How does it feel then?

Not to ask a dumb question, but is your compression adjustment set correctly? That would make a huge difference, as it's designed to do, in the "plushness" of your ride.

I'm sure you know all this, but everyone makes dumb mistakes; I sure have.

Yep tried it. Still no good. Maybe i should try a lighter spring. Hopper, do you still have that spring that came on your bighit?

Yeah, if we ride this weekend, I'll bring it and you can try it out, it's 550 pounds I think, I'll check a bit later.
