Anyone have any experience with Raleigh mountian bikes. I have a Raleigh SC40 for trail riding that I'm quite pleased with. Just wondering what their mountian bikes are like.

from what I hear, they kind of have the consumer name of bikes. I have a Raliegh M80 and most people that I ride with think it's "cute". They are not pro level, and they are not even higher end... they are more like sturdy, heavy, decent bikes that have great parts packages but they do not perform the best.
I am saving for a 2005 x3, which will be a much different style of riding then my current xc hardtail. I just want more intensity out of the sport, and I want to be able to go faster and be safe when I do it.... not to mention I need something I can take to the lifts in the summer time here in So Cal.
As far as your biek goes I don't know a whole lot about anything other than what I have, and I like mine. I think that they are even under rated....

Their Talus frame was used by team biogen-idec in the 2004 NORBA season.
I have the talus bike, which is lesser equipped and different paint than what the NORBA bikes were, but the same frame...at least to me it's a good bike for the money.

The wife and I have M600's. I don't use mine anymore as I now have a full suspension. The frames are very good on the M600's. They track and handle very well. Good down-hill stability. The wheels are way too heavy. Factory support (hangers, frame warranty) is non-existant, so the lbs dropped Raleigh about 18 months ago. I don't think the company will last too much longer.

I've owned a Raleigh Inferno SX for a while. Great starter bike. Heavy, reliable, tough. Looks nice too. Chro-moly frame. Components are Acera ... not precise enough at most times.
But I had a rough season with it this summer and shot the front shocks and dinged the rear wheel and front gear lever/brake so I looked out for a new bike. Bought a Devinci Arrowhead and I realize a imporovement in my riding in terms of handling and speed. Mostly on account of the weight.
