Good afternoon BikeForums.net! Thank you, thank you, thank you for being the community that you are. I’ve just begun my renewed addiction to cycling and have already invested a lot of time on your site educating myself on my current cycling focus – commuting!
I originally grew up all over as my dad was in the military but have come to call Colorado home.
I’ve had a Specialized mountain bike for the last 4 years that I’ve ridden in the summer months. My favorite rides include Red Rock Canyon, Ute Valley Park and Palmer Park. I would say that I’m still pretty “entry-level” at mountain biking but do enjoy pushing myself when the opportunity presents itself.
I just got a Cannondale Quick CX 4 for commuting about 9 miles each way. I’ve already outfitted it with fenders, a rack, bag, water bottle, toe clips and plan on getting a fancy schmancy bell to top it off! I’ve only ridden to work 2 times but can honestly say I’m smitten with bicycle commuting. The first ride was somewhat horrible as it was 37 degrees out and I didn’t have the right gloves (my hands FROZE) and didn’t wear glasses (causing my eyes to model Niagra Falls). Yesterday I went out and got the appropriate mittens to keep my fingers warm, glasses and also picked up a Take A Look mirror. I feel so much safer knowing what is coming up behind me. I plan to commute on my bike everyday of my work week from this point on.
