Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - New aluminium frame I'm looking at. Opinions wanted.

So I'm thinking about going aluminium with a carbon fork after taking a friends for a spin which quelled my fears about aluminium being so much harsher. I like the ride and plus it will be easier to lug up and down the stairs.

I have been very satisfied with the quality for the money spent so I thought I'd stick with these guys. This fame looks like maybe a mimic of a Bianchi Super Pista but at half the cost but before I take the plunge I thought I'd get some opinions first. One thing I thought was weird is that they say it's a 7075 Alloy which I thought was non-weldable. Is this maybe a typo (supposed to be 7005?) or do you think they possibly use a bonding method other than welding. If you have any other recommendations around this price please let me know. Keep in mind that this will be mainly a commuter/recreational bike and although I do like to go fast I'm not looking to spend a butt load to do so still being the semi newb that I am.

For that price; I rather go for a leader.... all leader frames come with lifetime warranty, even for their trick frames.... if it breaks, you get a new one... plus you actually have a company that actually exists and cares about customer satisfaction which I highly doubt "tomcat" does....

Thanks for the recommendation. The warranty through Leader is a plus and I have no idea about the customer service of Toto on their tomcat bikes because I had no problems with my first bike so far but I'm sure Leader would be more helpful. The frame I listed comes with a carbon fork which saves me maybe another $100 over the Leader 725 (339+150=$489 as opposed to $389). If you know of a good inexpensive carbon fork that makes up for this price gap let me know. Leader also uses 6061 Aluminium which is slightly weaker than 7005 or do you think this even makes a difference? I've also read that in the past Leader made ugly welds but that doesn't seem to be the case in the pictures, have they improved?

There's none I bet, if you have problems you're done for; but there is for you to buy another I'm sure....

7005 is heavier than 6061 as a trade off for strength.

My entire drivetrain on my Jeep is supported by 6061, I've had the entire weight of the vehicle on it on several occasions. Im sure your bike will be fine for going down stairs

Higher grade tube material typically transfers into thinner walls while maintaining stiffness for weight saving.That means someone hitting your 7005 tubed concept with his U-lock while locking up next to you = big dent in your tube = wrecked bike,same scenario happening to your 6061 tubed leader = no worries.

That's a good point, do you know this from experience? Is there a way to find out the wall thickness? The listing actually says 7075 Alloy is this even possible? No one touched that question. Maybe I'll shoot them an email and see if they respond. So far you guys have me heavily leaning toward the a Leader frame. Can anyone recommend a decent cost effective carbon fork to go along with the Leader 725 frame?

Uh, frame material doesn't have that much to do with stiffness, tube diameter does.

First line says 7075,second says 7005.Me thinks 7075 is a typo.
