Mountain Biking - Looking for an Urban Frame

Any recomendations on a solid urban hardtail frame? Can be steel or alum, I'm only 130lbs, so aluminum is definitley a possiblity. I was looking at the Coves, .243s and some others, but really need some recomendations. Price wise? Well, I have piles of bike parts sitting around, so I figured Id build up a cheap urban hucking bike. I've got a 130mm Z1 MCR fork which Ill used, but hopefully I'll reduce the travel at some point. I was also looking at the Konas, they seem build pretty well and usually can be found cheaply. New or used, if new, I'd prob EP it from the company directly.

So yea, shoot me some recommendations. I'm considering the new Soul Cycles Titan, but it prob wont be out for a while.

Identity makes a sick frame for pretty cheap......from like $350-$500, really nice stuff. Azonic's are pretty cheap. I love the Identity frames.....especially for the price. The Kona Cowan is also a possibility....theres a guy over on www.bustedspoke.com selling the frame for $350.

I love my frame. You can easily change to single speed via the movable dropouts. Also comes equipped with the gyro/orgy mounts.

Can you say no to the orange colour scheme?

I looked at the ToP, but 8lbs I think is a bit excessive, but who knows, I'll give them a call regarding EP prices, hows that droput system?

The dropout system is great. Really nice to have the ability to lock in the rear. Also the huge change in wheelbase and chainstay length are amazing. To go from 16.1 to 17.1 totally changes the riding characteristics...

I was looking at the Woodman Elite, used Chameleons and stuff along those lines. I looked at the Identitis, but stilll looking for other options. The Kona Cowan's adjustable system looks cool, but I gotta call Kona to figure out a price.

Mael, let me know how that Transision rides, its not out of the questin, but the weight is holding me back, how much do you think your whole ride will weigh?

eh...doesn't bug me. I am a heavy guy...I like the frame...and I have a feeling it was lighter then 8...but my frame is half built and the reducer weighed some too

well, for urban i like the k2 funky monkey frame. I think k2 makes a good frame overall but htats me. ANyways funky monkey is a nice balance for a lot of stuff, it isnt overly costly either

Well, if it's for urban, weight isn't as much of an issue as with other riding. Unless your definition of "urban" includes a lot of trials moves.

But I do agree..for me it is like a big bmx. Therefore weight is of little issue. Strenght is my main concern. My ToP will likely be used for mostly park and djing...as .. thats why I got it..

Yea, I am a trials rider, I've got bikes for trials, so weight really isnt an issue I guess. I'm going to checkout the pricing on the ToP and see. Im in no hurry to build this, but hopefully it will be done before the new year. Basically this is a total hucking bike, I dont have DJs around here, but if I did, Id use it on that. Mainly like campus riding, just urban hucking and such.

i'm really diggin the new planet x bikes - particularly the ghost. super sweet looking frame.

i'm also diggin the new evil d.o.c., chris donahue's signature frame.

not quite sure about the prices for them, but if i could justify getting a new urban/dj hardtail to the wifey, i'd seriously consider getting either of those.
