yeah if they are 25.4mm and you are trying to fit it into a 26.0mm stem just order the appropriate shim or go to your lbs and see if they have the shim you need

Why? They also make shims for this >>> http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=7414

Or a 26.0 stem (http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/12722-305_SETA64-3-Parts-72-Stems/Sette-Aeon-26.0mm-Road-Stem.htm).

I have used a 25.4mm to 31.8mm shim for the last 5 years on my track racing bike w/o any problems. Functionally they work fine, but aesthetically they don't. So, it's just a matter of what's important to you.

I used my stainless RB21s (26.0) with a 31.8 Thomson stem for my aerobars using a shim. I used them in 500M and Kilo events pulling on the bars as hard as I possibly could and they didn't budge.

But, if you can find the right stem it will look cleaner.

Carleton, that bike looks like a F-18 Fighter jet. You obviously are a winner.

if you are referring to the track racing bike it is illegal to have a brake on most tracks

Beer can shim

I wouldn't recommend this going from 26 to 31.8.

Yea, have fun cutting up enough pieces of a beer can to get from 26.0 to 31.8.

Yeah. Aerobars are used on the track, too.

Actually, it's illegal to use brakes on any track.

This is a "kilo" (1 kilometer time trial. One of the most physically demanding events in track cycling) done by one of the best ever. I am not nearly this fast. But, this gives you an idea of the forces involved.

Tejano does some events using aerobars, too.
